Lion Heart 15,041
President Donald Trump said he would deliver his State of the Union address when the partial government shutdown is over, clarifying his plans hours after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi blocked him from delivering the speech in the chamber while federal agencies are closed. “As the Shutdown was going on, Nancy Pelosi asked me to give the State of the Union Address. I agreed,” Trump said in the Twitter post. “She then changed her mind because of the Shutdown, suggesting a later date. This is her prerogative - I will do the Address when the Shutdown is over.” Trump added that he was no longer looking for “an alternative venue” for the speech, which was to be delivered next week. In a letter to Trump on Wednesday, the speaker said that earlier this month when she invited the president to give the address, “there was no thought that the government would still be shut down.” “I look forward to welcoming you to the House on a mutually agreeable date for this address when government has been opened," said Pelosi, a California Democrat. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-01-24/trump-says-he-ll-put-off-state-of-the-union-until-after-shutdown ▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀

Batwings 12,957
You know that he's seething about being told "No" by a woman and not being able to do anything about it. And I love that he shaded himself by putting the word "great" in quotes.

Shipper 13,114
Why did Pelosi have to tell him of the security issues. If he holds it in an unsecure venue with limited security personnel, the risk of him being hurt/stabbed/shot/mauled/melt is very high. He should have gone ahead and held it somewhere else. 🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶

This is not acceptable. Never wish death or harm on someone else, no matter how much you might think they deserve it. DeleteMyAccount 11,881
Hopefully he and Mitch will cave on the bill that was already passed by Congress.. Then this shutdown would be over with. Part of me also thinks that Trump is stalling too. Either way it's hurting him according to loose poll results.

Batwings 12,957
It's really interesting how all the Little Trumpsters on this forum avoid posts that indefensibly make Trump look bad while devoting all their time to playing mental gymnastics on other threads. It's almost as if their posts aren't good faith attempts at discussion, but rather transparent ploys for self-validation. Again, why GagaDaily seems to be the choice hill for them to die on is lost on me.

Cory won his seat by less than 50,000 votes from a Democrat. His constituents must be calling his office daily. We should be calling every flippable seat to make sure more republican senators vote to open the government. https://www.nytimes.com/elections/2014/colorado-elections 'In unpredictable Colorado, the contest for an open Senate seat was a real nail-biter — one that helped determine which party controls the chamber. Cory Gardner’s unseating of Mark Udall, a Democrat, helps push Colorado back into the Republican fold. But an exit poll conducted by Edison Research revealed an interesting twist: Many of Mr. Gardner’s Republican supporters expressed relatively liberal tendencies (half supported a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants, for example) but said that the party that controlled the Senate was an important factor when they considered their vote. Rather than showing an overwhelming endorsement of the candidate, the poll suggested that voters chose to place the Republican Party’s national needs first.'
