LateToCult 40,921 Posted January 18, 2019 Share Posted January 18, 2019 The Hollywood Reporter has revealed its predictions for Oscar nominees including Best Actress. Glenn Close, Olivia Colman, Lady Gaga, and Melissa McCarthy are all expected to be locks for nominations. Emily Blunt is most likely to take the fifth slot but the calculated percentage of that happening leaves room for other actresses to take that fifth slot instead. I’ve know Close, Colman, and Gaga were pretty much locked in for a nomination but I’m a little surprised at how certain they are of a McCarthy nomination. She’s gotten nominated at other awards but she’s always flown under the radar compared to the other nominees. I thought by now she would be struggling to get that BA nom, not expected to have it on lock. I guess I was wrong but I’m happy for her and hope this prediction is right. A Star Is Born for Best Picrure, and Bradley Cooper for Best Actor and Best Director all seem to be locks for a nomination as well. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I can see that happening with the recent success Roma and Alfonso had right before voting started. It’s my understanding that the only factor working against her is that she’s not a professional actress and she said she doesn’t consider herself an actress.
