Little? :air:

In the Actress category, there are like 8 to 9 actresses who are in serious contention for a nomination. I'd say Actor is looser but Actress is a fcking bloodbath, it's amazing how Gaga could rise above acclaimed actresses such as Glenn Close, Nicole Kidman, Viola Davis, Natalie Portman.

compared to last year with 3 Billboards, Shape of Water, Meryl Streep... the competition was way harsher

This year, except The Favourite, none of the movies could outshine ASIB during the ceremonies

I didn't follow the Oscar race last year, but could you muster up 9 actresses in serious Oscar contention last year? Cause you only pointed out three...

Because this year we have a lot of them-

Lady Gaga
Glenn Close
Melissa McCarthy
Olivia Colman
Yalitza Aparicio
Viola Davis
Nicole Kidman
Emily Blunt
Toni Collette

Also the Oscars have a habit of rewarding Best Picture to independent movies rather than commercial blockbusters, and Green Book and Roma might do the same just like how they did with The Shape of Water, Moonlight, Birdman and The Artist.

I don't even remember the last time a commercially successful movie won Best Picture.

It doesn't matter that the actresses are known or not. What's important is the movies.

Last year, the movies were critically very acclaimed while the movies those actresses staring are not (except for The Favourite).
Our threats were First Man (didn't live up to the hype), Roma doesn't have a lead actress... BlacKkKlansman and Greenbook don't either.

So yeah this is a weak year, and that's for the better and it should make us hopeful !!:vegas:

I think it was Lord of the Ring in 2004.

Did I miss something? Did Justin do something and I have a horrible memory?

He attacked Vegas residencies when Gaga was on the news for it (retirement for artists). That's why his Superbowl was panned and unforgettable in how bad it was. Maybe HE should retire..

Roma's lead actress is Yalitza Aparicio, and the Oscars love newcomers as much as they love veterans. There are many debut roles which have managed to get an Oscar nomination.

When did I say that the popularity of the actresses matters? Like I said above, newcomers can be just as big threats as veterans. Everyone is able to get a nomination as long as you deliver a genuinely convincing performance.

And there are just as many acclaimed movies as there were last year, I don't know what world you live in to get the impression that this year's movies are not as acclaimed or intensely in contention as last year's.

The movies have very good reviews. I think better than last year. The only one who has mediocre reviews I think is Destroyer.

Dua Lipa better watch out with her "most streamed female album" on Spotify :ladyhaha:

Troy Carter been feeding Meghan Trainor good, she already jumped on 3 COLLABS

- Just God Paid (with Sigala, Ella Eyre and French Montana)
- Hey DJ (with CNCO and Sean Paul)
- More than Friends (with Jason Mraz)

WHAT ? This year's best actress is stacked as hell. Let's just wait after the precursors so that we can take people out, we don't know nothing yet ...
