craig 680
From the Wikipedia write-up on Usher's Confessions: Impact With sales of more than eight million in 2004,[56] Confessions is named in the United States the most-shipped album of the year.[57] ...The album's success also exemplified urban music's commercial dominance during the early 2000s, which featured massive crossover success on the Billboard charts by R&B and hip hop artists.[58] In 2004, all 12 songs that topped Billboard Hot 100 were African-American recording artists and accounted for 80% of the number-one R&B hits that year.[58] Along with Usher's streak of singles, Top 40 radio and both pop and R&B charts were topped by OutKast's "Hey Ya!", Snoop Dogg's "Drop It Like It's Hot", Terror Squad's "Lean Back", and Ciara's "Goodies".[58] Chris Molanphy of The Village Voice later remarked that "by the early 2000s, urban music was pop music."[58] In a year-end article for The New York Times, writer Ben Sisario dubbed 2004 "the year of Usher".[14] The success of the album put Usher in the mainstream, becoming the biggest artist of 2004.[57] Others also said that Usher might be the successor of Michael Jackson. No wonder I couldn't stand top 40 radio back then. So glad to see that urban hegemony ended.

saltface 177
I love how people laugh about Usher and other artists putting up iTunes banners, but when MTN was flopping you were all like DISCOUNT, ITUNES BANNER, DL DAY, PLEASE INTERSCOPE

boysboysboys 278
Some of you are so pressed by Adele... she's a sweet, talented woman who deserves her success She can be nice, but I wouldn't call Adele sweet. She can be surprisingly uncouth and overestimating. Of course, nevermind that she rode the anti-Gaga bandwagon to the hilt and even shaded her. FUN FACT: 10.6 million people WW have illegally downloaded Femme Fatale. Who ever said no promotion creates bad album sales? IT HURTS ME. Imagine how many illegally got BTW! Receipts? Nobody ever checks for illegal downloads, and I hope they never will. For all we know those may have not actually been the songs, or the counters may have been looped to look like that. I think if people prefer to purchase songs from an artist legally, it shows how much respect they have for the artist. One More Night is going to go #1 yet the highly anticipated follow up to their smash single (MLJ), Payphone peaked at #2 We'll see. I love how people laugh about Usher and other artists putting up iTunes banners, but when MTN was flopping you were all like DISCOUNT, ITUNES BANNER, DL DAY, PLEASE INTERSCOPE  I don't hate on banners. Who said that?
badboymonsterx 521
So I was curious to find out where Triumphant (Get Em') peaked (Remember that song?) and I was assuming it peaked in the lower regions of the Hot 100, like the 40's, 50's, or 60's. I just found out it peaked at #15. ON THE BUBBLING UNDER HOT 100 CHART. Makes Girl Gone Wild seem like a smash hit single. lmao!! I haven't even heard the song once so I can't say whether it is worthy or not but that's sooo bad lol

AURA 2,890
Do you guys think it's possible for Gagz to have the BTW first-week single sales? How do you all want Gaga's lead to do? Selling crazy the first weeks and then start falling (a la BTW), or be like TEOG was? This song is fantastic! Currently impacting on pop. I don't expect it to get big anytime soon but wow, I love this. Giving me Stereo Love teas. OMG they are from my country, Romania :D Glad you enjoy it :)
