I’ve read 90% of the reviews that are out and I have found a similar criticism across the board: that Gaga never becomes truly Gaga in the film, like she doesn’t reach her full potential with the hair and makeup and crazy outfits, that it was a missed opportunity. This is so annoying because if she DID do that, they would all say she’s “just playing herself”, “it’s a biopic” and Bradley would probably get crap for “playing it safe” by casting her. Like come on, this is Ally. Ally is not Gaga.

Okay I know I haven’t seen it but isn’t the whole point of acting to disappear into a character and tell THEIR story? I hate when they come for ASIB saying they wish Ally had been more like Lady Gaga, it’s a weak critique tbh. They’re just looking for ways to bring the film down and ruin the hype :saladga: (I honestly feel like even though it might have flaws, it’s hard to say bad things so they scrap for the tiniest thing to add that tinge of negativity, lol)

I think I’m going to stop reading reviews for now because the last one I read had minor spoilers and I hate everything - has anyone read the “First Showing” review please DM me cause I am mad

Exciting news! I hope the RT score stays above 90% and MC score stays above 85.

He also gave Roma 2/5 (its only rotten review) so at least we know he's tasteless.

Anyway.

And if we think about it, giving ASIB the same score as Roma, a film with 96 on MC, means that he actually thinks both movies are of the same caliber :bon:

As the overall consensus is positive so far I expect soon some reviews will be extreme like 0/5 1/5.  Some movie critics like to go against the grain to make a name for themselves.

Wasn't it only one review? Most reviews praised Gaga though.

I think as long as ASIB gets many 4/5 and a couple of 5/5 reviews, the overall score will be hard to go down that much

Who would have thought that the reviews would be so unanimously positive, that a negative review would come as a surprise?
