gummybear 151
For me, mainstream singers who work with these so called artists like Guetta, Pitbull, Flo-rida and people like that, somehow lose my respect.... i'm so happy that gaga is not one of them
Gagaterium 220
:cryga: Coming from a music producer that is renowned to create an almost identical sound on every album he releases, saying that Born This Way was ''disappointing'', an album which incorporated more music styles in one album that he's ever incorporated in his entire career, is simply astonishing. The envy, I feel it as I am typing. If he even came close to Born This Way, it would have become a typical, 2010-ish generic house record, not the electronic masterpiece it is today. Nissa 51
People ignore this so much. It may not be the best selling album of the decade, or the one with the most hits of the decade, but it was and will be the album that touched a lot of people's hearts in this decade. It may not be for me, it may not be for you, but it's undeniable how many young fans this album has helped, wether it was coming out of the closet, overcoming bully, feeling confortable with thei bodies or who knows what else. A lot of people will look back to this album in the future and say "It was the album of the decade for me" Exactly! EDIT: Gonna remove that rant here, I don't think the people who it was aimed at would listen. Suffice to say, he phrased his opinion in a way that made him sound like BTW was disappointing because HE wasn't on it (implying he could've "saved" it) and that the next album will be wild because he approves of Zedd. There are thousands of ways to express an opinion like normal people do and he could've done that as well, such as saying things like: "I thought personally BTW wasn't up to par with her previous work. But from what I've heard about the next album, it's going to be great!" (And no one dare saying that that's what he basically said, like someone else did. That's the epitome of missing the point. ) No, instead he just put his ego on display and went into "I-am-Jesus-Christ-to-save-you-from-your-own-art-mode". This wasn't an opinion his, it's a tiny diatribe in the vein of criticizing something without having anything to back up these statements yet seeing it fit to basically expose his own state of being in a snit over not getting to work with her on BTW (because he could have "SAAAAVED" it!)... in doing so he made it crystal clear why he aired these comments. Smart move too - squashing the (already non-existent) chance to ever work with her, ever. Talking about him and his ego is a waste of energy. Gaga probably couldn't care less about him and his ego so I agree we shouldn't either. But his comment remains absolutely hilarious.
Mills 446
Not a fan of David Guetta's work. IMO, Deadmau5's far better. BUT as if there were lies told in his statement. Born This Way was critically successful, compared to Gaga's previous works, but to be quite honest, it was relatively a disappointment in terms of chart+sales longevity. The overhype, the overexposure, and of course the ever infamous Amazon deal led to what happened to BTW. It did not live up to the enormously towering expectations of almost everyone. Anyway, Guetta's complimentary words for ARTPOP is very promising, regardless of his opinion towards BTW. :nacho:
Mister G 10,492
Exactly! Also, I just have to laugh at people talking about "no wonder why people call little monsters REAL monsters" and "You just can't handle other people's opinions". I haven't read most pages in this thread, but I can't imagine it would contain anything worthy of being called a real monster. :toofunny: Memo: Some people seem to forget he called BTW disappointing right after he'd answered a question about if he had regrets not working with Gaga ("I could have done wonders with her on the album!" - seriously?). All those people saying it's just his opinion: Guetta having an opinion about BTW that isn't tainted by him obviously being in a snit from not getting to work on it seems dubious, doesn't it? At least it comes across that way because of how he phrased his comments. And imo he sounds like he couldn't work with Gaga, therefore BTW disappointed, but the next one's going to be crazy because, for a lack of the number 1 dj in town (Guetta), the new and promising number 2 (Zedd) will be working on it. If that's how you want to come across, phrase your criticism differently and put away the ego, please, Guetta. And that's what leads us to - Memo 2: It's the way he said it, his tone. He said he could have worked wonders with her on BTW and immediately after states that BTW was disappointing (implying that he could've "saved" it). The way his comments are phrased make him come across as condescending, arrogant and the product of an overblown ego or a little kid throwing a temper tantrum. He did not say, like one politely states their opinions: "I think the next one's going to be wild! I've head a lot about it. Her previous album wasn't on par with her potential and other work in my opinion. But this one's going to be amazing!" (Please don't say that that's what he "basically" said, like someone else did That's the epitome of missing the point...). If he'd done it like that this thread would not have blown up like that. Please learn the difference! Perhaps some of you don't see it yet - those who think it's his "opinion" that makes people irate (why would anyone think he doesn't have a right to an opinion?) - but I hope you'll learn the difference between expressing an opinion (like my re-phrasing above) and needlessly bashing something, in this case the album, while all but shouting that it was "disappointing" because HE wasn't on it, and that he likes the guy who is going to be working a bit on her next one it therefore must therefore be a CRAZY album. What an ego. And now he completely squashed the (actually non-existing) chance he still had to ever work with Gaga. Smart move, buddy. I like how you worded that, "Product of an overblown ego." He acts like his music is so godly: Rihanna - Only Girl & Nicki Minaj - Turn Me On Flo-Rida & Nicki Minaj - Where Them Girls At LMFAO, Fergie, Chris Willis - No Gettin Over You & Chris Willis - Now That Love Is Gone All his music now sounds identical and he prides himself with it because he is collaborating with mainstream artists now. He was better when he first started. I prefer music that has quality and meaning to it (i.e. Michael Jackson) versus someone that wants to score an easy # 1 on the charts. That to me says that your music lacks substance if you have to take the easy way out all the time.
deadguy 0
BTW a dissapointment... It's okay, one may think of an album whatever he or she wants. IMO Marry the Night instrumental is better than everything Mr Guetta has ever done and I'm glad he didn't collaborate.

But hey, apparently he seems to think that's the goal everyone should strive for? I found it kind of funny how he said these things apparently without any shame at all...his ego needs checking, indeed.
t.A.T.u. 3
The songs were not disappointing, nearly all of the songs on the album were amazing, he's annoyed that she didn't take him up on his offer and that she didn't release generic dance music that Guetta makes Good comment. :worship:
alposnacks 1
Oh God I hope this doesn't mean ARTPOP is going to be The Generic Monster "I Gotta Feeling" was sent to this poor Earth by Satan himself :ohno:
Harley Quinn 0
To the attackers of this thread , Leave Guetta alone, if he doesn't like BTW then so be it, let him like 'The Fame' all he wants. I see BTW as being an album Gaga stans will look back on and realize how meaningful and important it was too put it out at that time. It has enough quality music to be remembered. It's not the fact that he doesn't like BTW...It's the fact that he was pretentious enough to say it was disappointing because he wasn't on it
