Bradley is not 6 years old.

Well he is human and I am sure he wouldnt be best thrilled privately.   Gaga would be thrilled for him if he was nominated and she wasn’t because acting is his thing and this movie is his baby.

The Bodyguard was nominated in a time where the Grammys valued artistic quality over popularity, now they reserve the major categories for only the biggest hits, soundtracks & its singles almost never make it there anymore, unless they're HUGE hits (a la See You Again). That was then, this is now.

Wasn’t The Bodygaurd also very popular though? What’s to say it wasn’t because it was very popular but it just so happened to be artistic?

Id also be happy to bring up the Beck vs Beyoncé saga again if needed. Clearly that was artistic quality over popularity and that was only 2014.

Focus on this:

There has not been a female pop star (who began as a pop star) nominated as a lead actress in over 30 years....and there have only been two wins (Barbra and Cher) in over 80 years...

If and when Gaga pulls off the nomination, (its promising), Gaga will be given the respect and admiration of the film making community and of the general public.

In terms of mega stardom - There will be Gaga ...and then there will be everyone else.....from that nomination on...

I don't think we should get our hopes up for a best actress win.  It's Gaga's first role.  Has anyone in history ever won Best actress for their first lead role?

I think we should be ecstatic if she gets the best actress nom.  Not everyone has that. :ohwell:

Yes, Audrey Hepburn in Roman holiday, Julie Andrews for the sound of music, Marlee Matlin for children of a lesser god, and as one mentioned, Barbara....

I’m sure Bradley won’t be too happy if she wins awards and he doesn’t

I think he would be really proud and happy of her. To be recognized by the Academy is a huge honor for actors.

They award the songwriters behind the songs, so the recipients should be Gaga, Lukas Nelson. And Bradley if he contributed to the writing (Lukas said he wrote some of it so I don't know).

Yup, Bradley Cooper wrote his songs (co-written), so he can win in this category, and without Gaga.

I mean... you're not wrong. But let's not forget that AOTY winners have not always been major releases with skyrocket success (Arcade Fire and Beck). I still have some hope

Don't keep your hopes up. I personally think you are right in technicality, but realistically it rarely happens.

Please remember to keep your expectations leveled! This could become a TIHTY-oscar and Million Reasons SOTY disaster all over again.

Ya but the  bodyguard is also one of the most popular albums ever made.

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

If she gets nominated for best song we’d most likely get another Oscar performance :vegas:
