Performances like that helped legitimize her, and set her apart from her peers.

It’s a good song too. :)

God I gasped out loud when I thought the guy was holding a large knife

Also, I think what is most refreshing about this performance is the humor. Her work lately has been far too earnest.

I'm so devastated a professional recording has never leaked of this. This is seriously her best performance. Even better than Paparazzi at the VMA's.

No, I don’t think so.

Aside from the difference in fashion, (pearls glued to her face and body covered in baby powder) the performance is different. When she sits at a piano now she delivers something sober, powerful, and overly melodramatic. As opposed to this performance which is a little more layered. She was singing beautifully about something ridiculous - a rubber man, a dildo. It’s that little touch of irony that elevated her, and is missing now.

I see this as Gaga’s roots and a throwback to her days as a NY club performer. It’s not entirely missing as i would say Just Another Day comes pretty close to this, and her Dive Bar performance of that song is irreverent and touching at the same time. Unfortunately the fans seemed to not love the song as much as I do.

I would love Gaga to do more of these jazzy piano songs as opposed to the power ballads that she’s keen on doing right now

I concur. I LOVE her brighter, jazzier ballads because you can feel the fun she has performing them. And I honest to god think it’s how she best works a crowd. Her charisma shines brightest on those songs and performances. I also think it’s the future for her performing given her physical condition.

I agree with this. When she performs in such a way she really connects with the audience. Its fun, its quirky, and its unique. You can't take your eyes off her because its just something else.
