Bad Romance is just THAT f*cking song, it's literally the PERFECT single success-wise, quality-wise and also Iconic as f*ck, broke major records, got 2 Grammys and 7 VMAs, it got one of the best videos of all time etc. It's literally a game changer not just one big motherf*cking hit, that's why this song is on it's own level. There might have been bigger selling songs but this single is not just about that

Yes most of the hits you listed had more success or popularity, but hits like Despsito or Sorry are from the streaming era so when Gaga’s BR can compete with them is....And idk Bad Romance is just known , it’s just there ... I was singing bad romance the other day and my 6 year old brother recognized the song.... I showed him Sorry rn and he didn’t recognize it.....:vegas:

Excuse me, No! :excuseu:

these comparisons are ridiculous.

#sorrynotsorry

Personally, BR is not my favorite of hers (not even in my top5) But.....

it’s the all thing and the time that came out with her stardom on another universal level so all the circumstances made it that it is..

its a symbol song.. :firega:

Despacito was HUGE and the world is already forgetting about a year later, while nobody has forgotten Bad Romance :whitney:

Hits not equal iconic.

They can be more sucessful than Bad Romance in chart

But they won't reach the iconicness of that song and that music video

I can't believe you just compare those songs to Bad Romance :saladga:

Everybody knows Bad Romance, and not everbody knows those songs you mentioned. That's the fact.

Bad Romance is the best modern dance pop song and last iconiqué hit to come off someone, ain't nobody is gonna talk about Despacito in a few years. Bad Romance is THAT song that everybody knows and the whole single era was so iconic with that all Hollywood feel to it that no other newer song has reached. In a few years it'll be hailed as one of the greats in that decade and earn a spot next to the greats like Thriller and I Will Always Love You. /thread

Girl, put headphones on and watch the music video for all of the songs you listed in the OP, and you'll notice the difference. I just listened to Bad Romance actually, and there are very rare moments where my ears just have sudden intense attention to detail. Luckily I just had that with BR, and I was shook. I've heard the song 10000000s of times, yet this song has still managed to blow me away. Bad Romance is literally one of those songs that feel like nothing that came before it. An utter masterpiece is what Bad Romance is. In every. Single. Respect.

What an insult to Bad Romance to compare it to all those trashy songs

from the songs you mentioned above only uptown funk is better than bad romance for me

None of them is, but the topic is not quality.

This entire thread made me laugh. BR is not complex lyrically lol. Most of the songs on Joanne outrank it lyrically, and none of these songs you linked are even on the same planet on Bad Romance quality wise.

1. BR is an amazingly written song. The lyrics is both catchy, yet very creative and unusual. The bridge, the rah rah, the Hitchcock references...

2. Again, the topic is not quality :selena: I'm not stupid, none of them is a good as BR obviously :selena:

How can you compare Sorry, Fancy, Despacito and Work to Bad Romance?

Well, when it comes to success - easily.

You can't deny that those songs were MASSIVE hits. People won't look at them as classics in future, but they for sure will still be played.

For the millionth time, the point was commercial success, not whether they are classics or not

Because nothing is better than Bad Romance, the melody, the hook, the chorus, the choreo, the vocals, the live performances, the fashion. The planets aligned for this one, BR is the best song ever ever ever ever, much love! xoxo Hoeanne

In my opinion, Bad Romance is an incredible song, nearly everyone knows the sound and even the lyrics of it. BUT I have to say that Gaga wrote songs which are a lot better than Bad Romance or Poker Face. There songs have quite simple lyrics and a sound which is familiar to everyone. But these songs really don't display Gaga´s talent and deepness.

I know, ARTPOP is a very underrated album but it really is my favorite. With Gypsy, Dope, Aura,... Gaga really told stories and wanted to carry a message.

If you measure the ´greatness´ of a song by its success you are probably right that BR and PF are Gagas best songs but if you measure it by deepness, lyrics and emotions you should portray other songs..

I do a trick, pretend that I am you until it clicks

Bad romance was just everything i ever wanted and never thought about. Its one of those genius once in a life moments

Its just inexplicable how he pulled a song like that after so many hits.

And the image was so strong. It was just impossible to not notice the song and be seduced by the absurd.

The chorus just has a fire she just gave her whole life in that song.

On the floor lol

We compare it to its my life, ima outta love, oops i did it again, umbrella

Well only outta love and cant fight the moon maybe. Have that dramatic last breath kind of feel

Mary jane dear cutie success is not only figures.

Or maybe see the figures in a broader way. Like google trends and compare the overall sucess. Cause it was a storm

Uptown funk and gagnam style were probably huger cause have massive gp appeal

But not sorry nor shake it off
