Have Music Videos lost its value?

I think that to a certain extend, music videos have lost their values. They used to be these big events that people waiting for, some of the music videos became a unforgettable moments in pop culture like Thriller, Like A Prayer, Baby One More Time, Bad Romance, etc...

Nowadays people just watch the videos to stream music without caring about the content. Artists who have big fandom can rank up huge amount of views in the first day with the song having no impact at all.

What do you guys think

I think the opposite. Now with Youtube and huge streaming numbers, they are more important than ever. But yeah maybe before they felt more "special" since you had to watch them on TV

i guess so

pop events just seem to become rarer and rarer because everything is accessible at the touch of a button

a price not all of us want to pay but gaga seems to keep it old fashion so i'm sure she'll be releasing music videos forever

the generation that consumes pop music today does not have the patience to appreciate concepts. They want everything very easy and fast. So the songs have 2 minutes and the refrain begins after two phrases are sung.

especially with the new changes coming to Billboard's charts next month. It legit will loose its value lol:

I'm not saying they'll disappear soon but it doesn't matter anymore for most people to see a great MV.

The last big MVs were This is America and Look What You Made Me Do

Honestly I just want people who makes these rules to up the number for streaming even more. Spending 15$ for an album is different from spending 5$ a month to stream it over and over again.

Nothing against streaming because I do use it myself, but I think it would make the chart more diverse and less staying-the-same for a quarter of the year

Kpop videos still have value. They’re exciting and...not boring. At all. Stream Fake Love. The music video is beautiful.

And let it be an extended cut instead of the main version. Long vides piss the GP off. It's partly why GUY and Marry The Night flopped

I'd hate to think so and I really believe they shouldn't. We're living in a world that gets more and more visual. News videos instead of articles, using gifs and memes instead of bothering with putting together sentences.

People's attention spans are shorter though, but there are pretty fabulous pills for that.

What happens in Luxe Ford stays in Luxe Ford
