Million Reasons would've made a better lead single for Joanne

if we're talking about charts i don't think so, the only reason that Million Reasons went higher was because of the Super Bowl, i'm not saying Million Reasons is bad, but if the Super Bowl didn't give it that push, it would've stayed where it was.

If we're talking about the music, then maybe :oprah:

One could argue MR initially did what it did because the lead single bombed and scared off radio programmers.

Yes I think anything would have made a better lead single.

Having said that, MR would need a prettier vocal, like the one from the Royal Variety in UK.

If I'm being brutally honest, it is the only single material from the album that I can only imagine the GP will eat up upon release. PI was a pill difficult to swallow. Little chartsters would have a field day if Joanne was launched around the Superbowl :ladyhaha:

Umm....no that would be like Gaga releasing Dope as the lead single from ARTPOP

Gaga would've been SHREDDED for not releasing an upbeat song after C2C...

But, here is the thing, ARTPOP and Joanne are 2 very different albums. For me, releasing Perfect Illusion as the first single wasn't a great idea. Its a great song, but I think the reason why it shouldn't have because this is the only song that was different from the rest of the songs on Joanne. People probably thought that since Perfect Illusion was Popish, Joanne would be too. It wasn't. The only reason PI kinda flopped was lack of promotion. Without any promotion, it debuted at 15. With promotion, it would easily make the top 10.

I disagree. Imagine the backlash she would have gotten—not by the general public because I think that they'd be fine with it, but by Little Monsters. Hell, people were divided over "Perfect Illusion." If Gaga released a ballad as her "comeback single" Little Monsters would be more than upset. Sure, in hindsight we say differently, but I guarantee that would have divided people more than PI did.

A-YO would have been the perfect lead single in my opinion.

gaga can actually afford losing those fans who think she is her puppet...

I feel we always put so much pressure for her to do or not do a specific thing. Considering that she cares deeply for LIL MONSTERS she would be in dilemma whether to act as per fans or be herself and express her inner feelings..

She is the driver of this ride...it should be her decision where to go and what to do in her career...

People let's not make gaga our bitch..if u don't like what she is doing u r welcome to get out of train...

Ok i became too harsh

I never said that I agreed with what I said. I simply stated that if MR was the lead, it would be more controversial than PI. I'm all for letting Gaga doing what she wants with her career.

That sh*t would have flopped harder than PI and not only that but be an embarrassment as a fan. That song is MANiCUREs even cornier sister which who knew that was even possible. Its fit for a bad Target commercial. Its awful.

Let me remind you literally everyone in Twitter after the James Corden show was ****ing tweeting about the “Mirror on the Ceiling song” and literally gaga promoted it, milked it more than the cash cow she had with Perfect Illusion. I love PI but seriously, a lead single, the ma ma pa pa pa perfect illusion could have charted higher.

I'm like some kind of supernova

I made this statement actually a few days ago on a different thread and still totally agree! I think it would’ve sold Joanne better.

I still think A-YO should have been the lead. It's obviously Gaga loved it and wanted it as the lead.

Truthfully...it was the POPPIEST song on the album so she and her label HAD to release it...and you're right it was a poor choice cuz it mislead fans into thinking a different kind of sound was going to be on Joanne...more rock pop. NOT!

I agree she also didnt promote it AT ALL and even on tour shaded it with not even half a full performance...

Sad... but MR would NOT have been the return fans were expecting lol...she would have been dragged so hard

Interscope kinda sucks at picking singles, she should move out and make her own label like Bey
