They are but only for people who read into the video and can separate between song and video which frankly only few people can. I myself can only look at a video neutral if the song is not worse then ok. If the song get's as bad as LWYMMD i can't appreciate the music video anymore

Applause is the one all over the place. A casual viewer would get none of the references and metaphors in the video, while Telephone has a strong plot and storyline.

I love the Telephone video.  It's so much campy fun.

And while people complain about the amount of product placement in it, here's how I saw it: All of the brands that Gaga was using ... She was using them to kill people. Those sandwiches with Wonder Bread and Miracle Whip in them?  Yeah, all of those people are eating poison. LOL.  I wonder if Gaga was forced to put these brand names in the video, and she knowingly incorporated them the way she did as an "F-you."
