Why would any artist perform at the Grammys if it's not a single they are trying to promote? There is no point in going up there to perform some random song from an album released more than a year ago (unless your album was an absolute smash that made so much cultural impact that everybody knows all the songs on it e.g. Lemonade). While I do appreciate any Gaga performance, I will be a little disappointed if she did not make use of this platform to release and promote a new single from Joanne. Just my two cents.

A new single from Joanne will end up like GUY. The hype is gone, its too late now..

rumours

LG6 will be released the day of the Grammys... along with the DWUW music video, ARTPOP Act 2, and a New fragrance.

Spoiler

Welcome to Oblivia!

Amenities include non-existent music and the general scent of Delusion by Jinx Monsoon.

Probably it's her way of saying farewell to the era, and with a performance there's a much higher chance they'll give her the awards she's nominated for. Expect a beautiful Joanne themed performance but nothing else

Gagadonna

I’m fine with anything as long as she performs a song of hers. Her three previous grammys performances were covers, so. :nails:

Cause some people are passionate about the music they have created and enjoy giving the music beautiful performances for the world to see.
Believe it or not, not everyone is obsessed with having number one singles. That's for flash in the pan success. Creating solid albums and creating well-thought out and strong-vocalled performances is what legends focus on :trollga:

I totally agree with you. It is really pointless. A song will jump to the top 200 of itunes for a few hours and nothing more. No one will care about it except fans :icega:

Actually this is what will happen to a new single - a few hours of "relevancy" on iTunes, as people deem it, a couple days of people talking about it, and then nothing.

Things don't really have a lasting impact any more musically because of this obsession with hitting number one right away.

And also for some reason, artists just don't promote things like they used to, no one goes on huge single promo "tours" anymore, they don't hit all the talk shows, it's tragic and lazy. If Gaga performs a new song on the Grammys, then what she should do is appear on different talk shows once a week for at least a month, performing the song, in it's true album form, no multiple renditions, no highly choreographed number one day, then an acoustic the next, keep all the performances of the song as the album/radio version, but change the choreo a bit, the outfits, the sets, etc., so people can actually hear the real song and so it stays "alive". After maybe about 2 weeks from it's release, then the video, for the video, a special appearance on a show to debut the video should be done, none of this surprise release crap or just posting it online, it needs to be an event like Gaga used to do.

Has anyone ever debuted a new song at the Grammys though?  Assuming it’s allowed.

Gaga did with Born This Way,I don’t know other artists who did though.

The point is actually to celebrate that the work is recognized by the Grammy's for its contributions to music, not to provide ammunition for stan wars with single stats.

Her recent performances at Grammys, Oscars & such isn't about getting a smash hit

But rather to keep her relevant, so when she eventually drops a new song/album - GP will still know about her

or maybe I'm just delulu :laughga:

It's not pointless for us the fans who want to see her perform.

Didn't you get the memo? Some of us are here for the music, not for the charts.
