Stan Twitter Really Can Be Nasty

"It can be innocent and fun, but also nasty and dark. For example, stans of other artists have been attacking stans of Selena Gomez by making fun of her kidney transplant and accusing her of faking lupus to cover up cocaine use.

Unfortunately, haters of Selena, like this Taylor Swift stan account, turned the meme into a way to make cruel jokes about Selena's kidney transplant.

So, a stan account that claims to be "selena #1 stan" (but has 30 followers) responded with their own meme. They attacked Demi Lovato stans by mocking the death of Lovato's father."

I don't ever want to see Gaga stans behave like this, because this is ridiculous. You can support people and even dislike others without being toxic and cruel.

I really don't know why people have the need to tweet things like this... You'd think that we'd spend more time lifting each other up and understanding each other's differences rather than just brutally making fun of everyone.

Hardly thread-worthy, this is Twitter everyday

But to this level? I don't quite see such personal attacks every day. And regardless, it's worthy of talking about.

Yikes. I don't mind it when stans make jokes about artists flopping but this is a whole new level.

I enjoy stan culture for the most part, but some people take it waaaay to far. I’m all here for a bit of twitter beef over charts and flop albums, but when people attacking the artist and their private life, it’s no longer fun and it becomes bullying.

Yes, when we're talking about stan wars, to this level. Twitter pop stans are really, really really bad. They are the ones who always bring up personal aspects of pop stars, including body shaming.
