Gaga being meta...

It wouldn’t be the first time she tried doing that nor the first time it was overly complex and people missed it :poot:

I remember she said so in a radio interview in 2013 talking about DWUW. I think she compared him with herself saying people say a lot of untrue things about both of them or something like that.

Yes yes I remember this also. But I don’t think she was talking about this, I really don’t think she knew.

My guess is that Gaga had the heart to believe in the good of R. Kelly and Terry Richardson, when nobody else would. And then make a project that directly recalled all their naysayers.

We all know how that turned out.

Honestly, ARTPOP was all about shock value with mostly no substance. Gaga was getting burnt out and running out of ideas, so the only thing left to do at the time was to go the crazy route to shock the GP. Unfortunately for her at the time, it didn't work and made her look a little try-hard.

Thank god for Tony and Cheek To Cheek. Gaga really needed to gain the respect of the GP back and show that she wasn't all just smoke and mirrors. It's been a long process, but I think it has worked and her next album will slay!

Now if we could just forget about the whole DWUW & SNL performance that would be great. :selena:

i wish someone who gets the chance to meet Gaga would take the time and ask her about it. i’m sure it’s going to be uncomfortable for them asking their idol why they chose to work with a rapist when she herself is a victim but if someone doesn’t we’re going to continue making these threads forever :madge: sis needs to address it

I always thought she used R Kelly for shock value, she knew about the accusations so decided to put him in her song which had lyrics saying "do what you want to my body", she knew what she was doing and probably later regretted it

I think it works well with the concept of the song, personally. It was a dangerous thing to do on her part regardless, but if she was fully aware of how creepy they were, perhaps it was a clever move on her part.

Think about it. What's the song about? On the Graham Norton show, she said that it was about how the media scrutinise and harass the artist, and if that's the way the entertainment business is going, her only way of defending her power is by letting them her body, because they can never take her heart or her mind.

Surrounding herself with scum like Kelly and Terry would be a good way of furthering that concept. :nails:
