I wasn't too terrified because I had seen the "Puke on Gaga" interludes at TMB before If I hadn't already known Millie Brown was a performance artist and it was dyed soymilk I might have been more grossed out but it just slayed my entire existence and I thought it was so ballsy to do it live in front of an audience (imagine being in the splash zone for that!!!!!!!!!) and "FAKH U PAHP MUSIC THIS IS AHRT PAHWP!!!" that really shocked n slayed me but in a good way tho I love artists who are brave enough to be gross and terrifying on stage!! your name why did you have to divorce ? Alice Melo 50
2015's Oscar Performance, 2014's Swine performance at the SXSW, the whole iTunes Festival in 2013 where she debuted ARTPOP and the McQueen tribute at the Brit Awards in 2010. This one was the most shocking yet "positive" moment for me because I really thought she could come up with something absurd but she just did that amazing piano and keytar sequence and solemnly ended. A true tribute to one of the best designers ever in a over the top standard of visuals and vocals
PlanetChromatica 2,266
My top shocking moments from Gaga, even though I am an obssessed fans, she still pulls it out of the bag and shocks her biggest fans: 1. SXSW Swine performance. I remember watching it at like 2am live, I could tell that she was upset throughout the whole show but when I saw Millie come on stage, I knew something was going down. What really shocked me though was the part where they were on the mechanical bull and Gaga was screming "F*** YOU POP MUSIC, THIS IS ARTPOP"... I was like, damn, she's not doing pop music again 2. The Cure surprise release and performance at Coachella. Again watching live on my laptop at like 2am, literally had no expectations, there were rumours but I'm so used to them being fake that I did not even dream of new music coming at this point. The sound of the song being completely different from Joanne was also a big shock and was so happy POPGA IS BACK. 3. Meat Dress and singing Born This Way when Accepting Song of the Year at VMA's 2010. 4. Performing Aura live at iTunes Festival (I was front row) probably one of the best moments of my life. I had listened to the song all summer, did not expect it to actually be on the album. 5. Applause performance at the VMA's - did not expect Gaga to reference all previous eras, changing outfits 5 times within one song and dancing so much so soon after the hip break
JazzGa 14,621
Oh yah I have more to say about Swine at SXSW and why it slayed me so good. So I also thought, in addition to just being a ballsy move to be so repulsive on stage, that it was a statement on her sexual assault early in her career and the expectation on pop performers to be sexy and appealing at all times. Remember that the song Swine was written about a producer who sexually assaulted her, or at least put unwanted sexual pressure on her, at a young age. Gaga also talks about how her early producers would often pressure her to be sexier and more mass-appealing. The song also brings to mind gross disrespectful Johns at a strip club or go-go gig. "Slap me skinny, love to watch that ass go wiggle" I think that her grinding like a faux-lesbian stripper with Millie on the mechanical bull while she screamed out her pain and got vomited on was her way of giving a big middle finger to that producer who told her she needed to be sexy and all the men who did/said nasty things to her when she was go go dancing. It's like she took a typical cheap stripper trick (2 girls on 1 mechanical bull) and inverted it into something rebellious and terrifying. It was so special, like a true performance, like it transcended the boundaries of even her limits at that time, and was just over the top And when she started playing the piano, I thought: gurl, there's like no way you can belt Telephone on the piano, and she did it effortlessly

Streams of Coachella were so rough that I tuned out by the time she premiered it. Then when I came to GGD the next AM I literally got the best surprise in the world (aka The Cure). That was such a good day Little Mons✟er
