The Edge Of Glory should have been the lead of BTW.

So...:bon:

For a start, I just wanna say that I love BTW, both the song and the album, and I think BTW did great as the lead. The reasons it plummeted so fast from the charts after it dropped from #1 was most likely because Interscope started pushing Judas on radio instead (and that was a mess) so radio dropped both songs :emma: that's also the reason why TEOG was not touched by radio for half of its chart run :emma:.

But....BTW was too basic sonically, it was nothing new coming from Gaga, especially from an album that was supposed to be the voice of our generation :emma: :tony: And the Express Yourself similarities didn't help either :reductive: I mean, the song wasn't even sent to the Grammys because of that :selena:

So I think TEOG would have been a much smarter choice. It managed to smash even after the Judas mess :tony:

As the lead it would have clearly done better too :tony: it was such an organic smash, I can only imagine how it would have been if Interscope had given it the same treatment they gave to BTW .

Less backlash, more acclaim, better video and x6 Platinum single confirmed  I'm serious tbh :madge:

And guess what that would have meant :stalkga: real competition for Rolling In The Deep for SOTY/ROTY :tony: I mean, yeah, now RITD is x8 Platinum, but it also has a video with 1.1B views. Unless they haven't updated the song's certs since 2012, that x8P cert is clearly counting streaming too. So correct me if I'm wrong, but that would be around x6 Platinum counting only pure sales till 2012, right :stalkga: I'm sure TEOG could have gone x6P had it been the lead :queenga: and you can't tell me that Rolling In The Deep is better than TEOG, even if you're not a LM :gaysia: so yeah, I think that TEOG as the lead could have been a real frontrunner for ROTY at least :gaysia:

So overall, I think it's clear why TEOG would have been a wiser choice :saladga:

BTW could have been the 2nd single, a lot of artists have released the title tracks of their albums as 2nd singles to help sell the album better, and it has proven effective.  The EY comparisons wouldn't have been that big either cause it's not like BTW was the lead single :gaycat:

What do you hunties think :classy:

"more acclaim,...and x6 Platinum single confirmed"

Would've been called a TFM reboot by the GP. I don't like BTW besides maybe Scheiße, but I think BTW as lead was a slightly wiser choice. It solidified her LGBT icon status.

agreed I love btw but TEOG would've started the era differently, like literally everyone likes that song

Yes it would been amazing, it is my favorite song of gaga of all time and would been perfect lead. tbh i don't even like born this way that much, i mostly just support it because it's great message. TEOG should atleast been followed by btw as the 2nd single, we would had atlest 2 #1 during btw era if that happend :lolly:

TEOG tho is what saved the era midway through. What would have happened if it was the lead instead, and then they still decided to release judas as the second single? I doubt any other song, even BTW, would have made a bigger impact than TEOG to save her from all that backlash and controversy

Wow no :madge: Sheiße shoulda been it :poot:

For a second I read that as Sheila and went Bitch who's Sheila :selena:

I wouldn't have minded Scheiße (being the only song from the album that I enjoy :poot:), but not too GP friendly :toofunny:

1. BTW (released like it was)
2.TEOG (instead of Judas
3.Schisse (released as 3rd single after the album in time for the summer, VMA peformance)
4. MTN (for fall/winter, pretty much like it was released but with a short video version on vevo and released to radio earlier)

There we have a perfect era with 4 top 3 singles:lolly:

She could have keept the era going in 2012 with singles and videos during the tour.

5. Yoü and i, last single before the tour. Grammy peformance.
6. Hair, last radio single+ a video
7. A video for Heavy metal lover as a treat for the fans while waiting for ARTPOP
