Robagaga 9,345
Hurricane IRMA 6/09/17 Update Short term forecast and impact. Hurricane Irma is still tied for the spot of the 3 strongest storm ever in the atlantic with 185 mph winds. Hurricane Irma made landfall on the island of Barbuda about 8 hours ago. The island is relatively uninhabited and many had evacuated so the damage isn't expect to be major. Irma is still a cat 5 and is currently having a direct impact on the populated island of St Maarten, the whole island has reportedly lost power. Hurricane Irma will in the next few hours be headed towards the virgin islands and finally should start impacting the Puerto rico area this afternoon. There will not be any direct landfall but mudslides, hurricane force winds and storm surge are still to be expected so extreme precaution is required! It will most likely remain a cat 5 until it reaches the Island of Hispaniola where it is not expected to make landfall but could get close enough to the island to damage the storm and hopefully lead it to be downgraded. This should all happen around tomorrow afternoon Extreme precaution on hispaniola and puerto rico is required, even though the storm doesnt make landfall, this thing is HUGE and you will still receive impacts. Long term forecast As you can see the models have shifted from the last time we talked. Only 12 hours most tracks indicated this would pass to the west of Florida and not the east. This is some good news for the Floridian peninsula HOWEVER these tracks can DRAMATICALLY CHANGE at any moment as you can see from just 12 hours so a Florida landfall is still a serious possibility In any case this storm is expected to weaken as it interacts with the mountainous regions of cuba, HOWEVER if it tracks more to the north like some of the models are indicating it might maintain this strength. Currently the NHC is saying the storm will most likely be a cat 3 when it reaches florida but these models can change and even if they don't a cat 3 impact can still be devastating. If it passes to the east of Florida a strong Georgia or South Carolina landfall is highly likely so people in those areas should start preparing NOW DONT WAIT! GET READY! STAY SAFE! We secured our house but many people where I live didn't and now they can't do anything because all the stores are closed. Last night I went to a couple of stores to buy a some things and the lines had no end. Basically no one prepared for something that was announced a week ago and now everyone is scared of the worst. So sad even if they should have prepared it's still really unfortunate that thousands of people have to leave their homes or sit there and hope for the best. My heart goes out to all of you. HANZ 4,380
Selena Quintanilla's family members killed in Hurricane Harvey floods Members of Selena's own family were among those killed during Hurricane Harvey in Texas ... this according to her father. Selena's dad, Abraham Quintanilla, posted the news on Facebook, explaining relatives of theirs tragically drowned when they became trapped in a van while trying to escape the rising waters. Abraham said Manuel Saldivar -- whose mother was Abraham's dad's first cousin -- drowned along with his wife, Belia, and their 4 grandchildren. The driver of the van survived. http://m.tmz.com/#!article/2017/09/05/selena-quintanilla-family-members-among-harvey-victims/ RIP My Favs = Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Ricky Martin, AKB48
PartySick 172,589
Ugh I had to work today and let me tell you...people here in Central Florida are panicking. I only had a seven hour shift but I must've gotten nearly a hundred calls asking if we had water, flashlights, D cell batteries, canned goods, etc. Even more people popped in and asked me if we had that stuff which, of course, we sold out within an hour of opening. I don't understand why these people don't prepare before hand I have a constant stock of water, canned food, little essentials like batteries as well as first aid stuff even when there isn't a storm brewing and/or on the way. We live in Florida. We literally have two seasons: Summer and Summer with hurricanes. And severe thunderstorms happen weekly too. You shouldn't wait until the last minute to prepare at least at the basic level, people 6 hours ago, JustaMonster said: Great now its headed for where I live I feel you I know it's selfish, but I was hoping it'd go to the West and hit somewhere else or go up the West coast. Apparently that idea pissed off mother nature so she put this f*cker on the path to literally go right over my house HALP Spoiler I'm still not that worried 'cause I'm as prepared as I possibly could be but seriously...not cool Stay safe everyone and good luck to my beautiful fellow Puerto Ricans Whimsical bitch
