Wow, Barbie's looking different these days. The doll I had in the 90's is a far cry from this 2017 version. Even her hair isn't blonde, in this particular version anyway. And she used to have a different voice back in the day. Which leads me to my next point...

Can we stop with the valley girl persona in our media? It's helps to reinforce negative stereotypes of white women and I'm sick of it. Especially when paired with all the other cliches of white womanhood, right down to the "white girl makes vapid vlog about her white problems." Most people would have a fit if a black Barbie character had a big ass, liked listening to urban music, acted all sassy and said "Oh, guurrrlll..." and the character would get pulled and have a more progressive replacement. But somehow, it's ok to tick every box when making a cliche of a white character and no one says anything about it. It'll even get cited as yet another positive representation of a white character when it's actually anything but. You may say I'm reading too much into this...but actually take a close look at all the white media around you and you'll see what I'm talking about. I really struggle to find a white woman in the media I can relate to, yet because there's countless stereotypical representations of white women everywhere, I shouldn't have a problem finding someone relatable. Apparently. Or so society says.

You should never make fun of someone's appearance and I don't support negativity but some people need stronger backbones :nails:

There are tons of white girls who act completely different though idgi. If anything Barbie represents first world problems, not white people. I know people of every race who act like this, it's not a white thing (obviously she's exaggerated but still) :rip:

Of course there are, which is why it's so mind-blowing that it's ok to show this very restricted vision of a white person. And to reinforce the stereotype towards children, at that. In today's world, whatever race a character is means they represent that race, not an outlook and personality. Because that's how much society's regressed, where race defines us. And yes, it's not a white thing, which is why it's even worse how it's only demonised and laughed at when it's white people displaying it.
