Jase 13,065
Nice to see 'Swimming Pools' edging its way to the iTunes top 40. I suspect the MKS cover has helped it. WHO IS BUYING THAT OFFENSIVE ONE DIRECTION COVER?!? Gorgon City/Yasmin climbing fast out of nowhere. Fantastic record. Another throwback to early 90's house, which seems to be very popular at the minute. P!nk is #02 combined. It's her biggest hit in years, and she deserves it. 'White Noise' is going to be one of those which sticks around for ageeees, much like 'Latch' did. People predicting that 'Harlem Shake' would do a 'Gangnam Style' were mistaken. It's not having huge success (as predicted) right now, and as far as cultural impact? Eh, minimal; at least in this country. iTunes Update 01. Mirrors - Justin Timberlake 02. StrawberryBlond 14,267
Damn, Nicole is going down like the Titanic. She must be tearing her hair out. She must have thought she had a huge hit in the bag what with her judging position on XF and having hit singles here before. Boomerang debuted in Ireland today at #9 which is still top ten but below expectations and it looks like its going to go the same way over here. P!nk is #02 combined. It's her biggest hit in years, and she deserves it. Whoa, she overtook Bruno? Amazing, considering her song was released earlier. Did the UK just suddenly come around to the video or something? The TTAL era has been great for Pink in the UK and the US which is amazing considering that she's only had 2 UK #1's, her last album struggled here and she's never been a big artist in America. Harry 26,836
I guess Boomerang shows that really airplay is still pretty essential. Or people just aren't bothered by Nicole/the song in general. Amazed that JT is still #1 on iTunes after SO long even without an actual video. I think video channels are playing the Brits performance though. I really hope his album sells well, it's brilliant. I doubt his first week sales will be as big as Bowie's will be this week, but it will have more longevity. EDIT: Nvm, 1D are #1 again after Comic Relief

StrawberryBlond 14,267
Oh, here we go again with yet another Saturdays single. I don't know why they're trying to break America. Usually, the rule is that you have to have at least two UK #1's before you can attempt that and they've never had any. Really am surprised by Nicole's under-performance (though #6 wasn't bad considering how low she fell iater in the week). I heard that many top radio stations weren't playing it for whatever reason. She did so much promotion for it too - 3 separate Comic Relief performances, Jonathan Ross and Daybreak. She did a nightclub performance at G-A-Y, placed an automatic ad for the single on YouTube and did an interview with Daily Mail's Live magazine and another interview in Heat magazine. Everywhere I looked, this song was being promoted. The promotion was constant all throughout the week and with a campaign of that magnitude, the public must really not care if you can't even crack the top 5. It's weird to think Nicole's first three singles from Killer Love did better when she wasn't a XF judge and before she became really famous in the UK. I think it's so ironic when songs involving never giving up and making a comeback tend to flop in the charts. After Bruno's consistent #2 run, he really stood a chance at overtaking Justin, but alas, it wasn't to be. The same thing that happened with Locked Out Of Heaven. Looks like this era's going to be one long c-block for him.
