Estimated sales for Kylie:

Abbey Road: #2 (37,556) - #7 (17,395) - #18 (13,000) - #25 (13,000) - #36 (12,000) - #34 (17,000) = 110k

That shows how general sales are increasing for Xmas. To get in top 10 now, you have to sell what most of the year would get #1.

Well, it went #1 then dropped like it's name wus xtine :flop:

Still sold 397,100 copies, though. And the fact that it mysteriously vanished from iTunes at the height of its popularity but still came back to secure the #1 was pretty impressive. But if it weren't for The Voice, I highly doubt it would have been as popular. It seems like if she put will on a single these days, it does well. I'm sure his album will tank, though.

WOW. James Arthur has sold a whopping 187,000 copies of his single in just 24 hours, making it the fastest selling single in the UK this year. He completely dwarfed the sales of the previous record holder, Call My Name by Cheryl Cole who had received the honour after a mere 152,0001 copies sold in her first week. Makes you realise just how terrible sales are if that was the record. Though the fact that James's single is also a charity single likely made its debut even more amazing. I'm just glad that someone, anyone beat Cheryl's record. I was getting quite depressed knowing that 2012 was almost over and a poor excuse for a pop star whose career was in the gutter presently held the title of the fastest selling single in the UK.

Previous record holder: Cheryl - 152,000 sold in one week (97,000 sold in three days).

Present record holder: James - 187,000 sold in 24 hours.

:dies: James now holds the record for the fastest selling winner's single in X Factor history. Amazing for a series that had its worst ratings in seven years. Another shocker this year was when Talk That Talk went to #1 on the album's chart months after release with just 9,578 copies sold, the lowest selling #1 album since the charts began in 1952...all because it had been reduced to a fiver on iTunes. 2012 has been a weird year for music.

UK album sales last week were actually quite impressive compared to the US.

http://www.hitsdaily...es/salescht.cgi

Pink sold 47k for #11 - 47k would earn #14 in US

Kylie sold about 17k in UK for #34 - that would earn #43 in US

Considering US has a much greater population and genres like country and rap that aren''t big elsewhere, the UK is doing much better by capita. I think they're more into big first week sales, and have less of an Xmas sales bounce than UK.
