StrawberryBlond 14,263
LOL at industry expectations to make Adele's Bond theme be the biggest selling digital release ever. Dear me, it's amazing how the success of one album goes straight to a record label's head. Really, nobody cares about Bond themes anymore. Die Another Day was the last notable one and it didn't even go platinum in the US or UK. And that was in 2002, before illegal downloading became widespread. After that, the public just didn't care anymore. I didn't even know who sang the themes for the last two Bond films - I had to look them up. It was sad to think that Amy Winehouse was all lined up to do it and then passed away and I would have loved to hear Lana Del Rey sing a Bond theme (hell, Million Dollar Man sounds like the stereotypical Bond theme). But no, we get lumbered with Adele, purely because she's hot right now. The biggest sellig digital release of all time is I Gotta Feeling, with 14.6 million copies worldwide. Adele's biggest selling single had 10.38 million (which, by the way, is lower than Gaga's Pokerface), so she's going to need a fair bit of luck here. I really don't see a Bond theme selling more than 14 million anytime in the near future. You'd think after what happened with BTW, record labels would think twice before making outrageous claims of what their artist's new music will do. The biggest hits tend to be the ones that weren't expected to be hits.

One Direction, easily Rihanna will get that #01 at some point, though. Possibly with an X-Factor performance.

StrawberryBlond 14,263
Carly Rae's album is BOMBING. Down to #28 in the mids. One hit wonder? It's a shame, as her album's really good. How ironic that just as I'm starting to get and appreciate an artist, the public reject them. I'm really surprised that This Kiss hasn't got anywhere yet - it's by far one of the best on the album and the definition of radio friendly. It's kinda sad that just as her career has begun to start, it's going to end. I guess her label really believed the hype and believed she could push a complete album with 11 more Call Me Maybe's. Seeing as Katy's pure pop sound has been so popular in America recently. they were probably hoping that Carly could have had the same success. I have to admit, I thought this was going to be one of the biggest albums of 2012. But yet again, it seems I'm really out of touch with what the public are into.
