"Norway aims to ban face-covering Muslim veils in kindergartens, schools and universities, the government said on Monday, the latest European nation to propose restrictions on wearing burqas and niqabs.

France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Bulgaria and the German state of Bavaria have all imposed restrictions on wearing full-face veils in public places.

Norway's minority government, a coalition of the center-right Conservatives and the populist Progress Party, said it was confident it would find opposition support for the move.

"We have every reason to believe this will be approved by parliament," Education Minister Torbjoern Roe Isaksen told Reuters.

Norway, which will hold elections on Sept. 11, will be the first country in the Nordics to introduce a ban on burqas for both adults and children.

"Face-covering garment such as the niqab or burqa do not belong in Norwegian schools. The ability to communicate is a basic value," acting Minister of Immigration and Integration, Per Sandberg, told a news conference."

I don't want to argue but most people who wear burqas aren't forced to wear them, but rather choose to wear them.

For the same cases a ski mask is not allowed. You can't see facial expressions and also for identify issues. And never mind that a burqa is a sign of woman oppression (basing this from a muslim feminist Seyran Ates)

This is stupid, whatever happens to religious freedom? Whatever happened to letting choose what to wear?

We're letting the terrorists win when we betray our values of freedom and liberty and replace them with censorship and bigotry.

In any society tbh. It was banned in several African countries including Morocco, Congo, Cameroon or Chad.

What if what JW preach about Governments turning on religion is true 👀

@TimisaMonster

From what I understand for their teachings, the end of false religion will happen all at once where all religion will be banned world wide.

Good, you shouldn't be allowed to fully cover your face in a public setting, regardless of if its a religious piece of clothing or not; especially in a school.
