pink sushi 4,351 Posted June 27, 2017 Share Posted June 27, 2017 MARK MY WORDS MARINA FANS.......when Marina returns to music and SLAUGHTERS us all with her new album, she will no longer go by "Marina and the Diamonds". She's gonna go by either Marina Diamandis or just Marina. Proof? Well if you follow Marina at all, you will know that she has deleted all trace of "and the diamonds" from her social media. Also, Disconnect was released a few days ago and she is credited as just "Marina" on it. Why would she want to do this? I honestly think she's just tired of being constantly mistaken for a band most of the time. She is always asked about it in interviews and has to explain herself every time. It's also kind of a strange thing to do to refer to her fans in her stage name. A lot of people just don't get it and continue to assume she's the lead singer of a band. And I don't really think she wants to be thought of as just a member of a band when she is a solo artist who writes all of her own music. Fans may know that Marina is a solo artist, but members of the general public who come across her music and won't bother to research her any further, will always continue to assume that she's a band with a name like that. Disconnect alludes to her putting her phone etc down and not paying attention to social media and such. But social media is where her fans lay, meaning she is disconnecting from them as well for a while, and therefore she isnt connected to the Diamonds anymore. Especially given the meaning behind it; her fans are the diamonds. I'm sure she could live with it but oh well. Doesn't change who she is as a person or her talents, so.
