Irrelevant and baseless with half those songs included and snubbing Born This Way, the only one deserving based off this sad list.

Break Free where it should be though :reductive:

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

"Ariana Grande, “Break Free”

Diana. Madonna. Gaga. Ariana. While a lot of her peers are vocal allies, none of them have been as loud and unwavering as Miss Grande. Not only that, but the pop smash’s camp-tastic video evokes Barbarella and Britney. Give this chick an honorary gay card already!

what do they mean with that?

What?...I've literally never heard her do anything of extreme note for the gay community meanwhile Gaga just visited homeless LGBTQA youth when promoting Joanne, included the bridge to Born This Way in her Super Bowl set, and that's just the last 12 months. This is ass-kissing at its finest. I'm sure she's an ally but it's a big stretch to say she's more ardent or vocal than Gaga or Madonna.

EDIT: let's not forget Gaga's role in vocally opposing DADT.

2010 isn't modern? I feel like this is an obvious snub of the actual modern day LGBTQ anthem.

Go to any pride parade literally anywhere in the world and the song that you hear playing through the entire parade on countless floats is Born This Way. Not ****ing Cupcake and Halsey.

Read the first line of the post.

I did... that is why I was disputing their definition of modern.

Still not much room for dispute though :oprah:

It's Modern LGBTQ Anthems from 2013 through 2017 (5 years counting 2017)

And since modern can be defined as something relating to something of recent or present times, five years is a pretty fair excuse to use the word "modern." (and much less arbitrary than seven might I add).

In 3 years, songs from 2010 would be included in a "Best Anthems of the Decade" list, and "decade" sounds a lot older than "modern."

But I do understand what you're getting at :D

2010 is modern. If they are making a list of modern gay anthems, they left out the most prominent one. That makes the list null and void. Especially since the list is pathetic anyway.
