I don't feel safe even crossing your border let alone spending time in your country. Safe is not a mass shooting almost every day. 154 mass shootings this year, 163 days elapsed this year. That's some ****ed up **** my friend. That's why tourism is taking billion dollar hits in your country. Also gun violence is more prevalent in America than anywhere else in the world. Deaths by gun violence in the States eclipses every other country exponentially. Well said, I'm also Canadian, and I don't know when I'll set foot in the U.S. again. That country just scares me now. America is NOT a safe country, and by saying otherwise and ignoring the alarming statistics, you are trivializing a very serious problem.

Are you even aware of your privilege or??? 1 minute ago, Alexander Levi said: Ok well not every American is like that.... The way you are speaking to people on this thread is almost attacking them individually for a problem that is bigger than the individual. Oh no, definitely not. I work in tourism and meet literally thousands of wonderful American's, many of them apologize for the mess of their own country and I tell them it isn't their fault. So it's not personal. But it does seem like some members are defending the gun problem in the states and that is shameful.

You do realize that the majority of people here on this forum, that live in the US, are for gun control, right? In fact, the majority of Americans are for common sense gun laws. I vote, I write and call my congressman, I march. What else do you want me to do? Move to another country away from my family that needs me...away from my friends...away from my livelihood and way of life? I have a good life and feel safe and happy. I can't help it that you refuse to believe that.

Its a definite problem that I hope we can solve. But like many members here, I don't feel unsafe traveling around the US. That doesn't mean that I don't believe gun violence isn't a problem. I can't help it that you refuse to believe that. I believe that you are safe and happy. Of course there are plenty of American's who are very comfortable. Unfortunately the number that aren't comfortable or safe or happy or healthy is remarkable and more than most other developed nations it seems like nobody wants to do anything about it. Anyway, I certainly hope that most American members are for gun control, though I don't get the vibe from this thread. I just think that by defending any aspect of the gun laws, or diminishing gun deaths, you're actually doing quite a disservice. It isn't a personal attack. You're not worse of a person or an American for living in a country with such a rampant problem. There really isn't anything to defend.

I, personally, would be ok with tax increases if I knew they were going towards the greater good. But for some reason the American public is very CUT TAXES as their main goal. It's weird especially since a lot of those people are Christian which is all about giving instead of keeping.
ALGAYDO 35,230
This thread is such a mess, but then again, so is the US. So it's definitely fitting. Also, it sucks that this mass shooting happened, but what do people expect? A new mass-shooting happens almost on a daily basis. I feel absolutely nothing about this. I'm THAT desensitized by the gun crimes in my country. But, at least the majority (I think? Correct me if I'm wrong) of people living here can agree that something needs to be done in order to limit such terrors here. But of course the GOP loves the NRA's money too much to actually do anything about it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
ALGAYDO 35,230
Also, maybe it's just because I live in California, but I've seen way more guns owned by random civilians than by cops. Like, WAY more. But it doesn't really scare me or anything cause I'm honestly just so used to seeing guns everywhere that the other day, at a kick-back, someone randomly brought out their guns (just to show off and look "cool," I assume) and literally nobody batted an eye

I feel the same. I've always said that I would be happy to pay even more taxes if it meant that it was benefiting less fortunate people and going towards social programs that help those in need. And you're right, there's a lot of hypocrisy regarding taxes and helping people in the states. It's wild.
Radio Ga Ga 5,671
I can't at the people thinking that all Americans believe there shouldn't be gun regulations Do you have any idea how big and diverse the US is??
