So basically "we don't agree, so you don't have a right to be represented." Arrogance personified.

Um, yeah? Why on god's earth would we give equal standing to those who are actively being detrimental to LGBT causes? Types like you seem to have this weird notion that a free market of ideas also means that all ideas are equal when that's absolutely rubbish. There's a reason we don't teach flat-eartherism along with evolutionary biology. It's because the former is crap and has no place in academia.

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

Oh, please. I live in the south and the amount of arrogant, self-righteous Bible-thumpers I hear from on a daily basis is unreal. Their "wisdom" is based on a book written thousands of years ago, whereas ours usually come from basic human morality. Sorry if we get a little upset by a personified orange and his supporters constantly criticizing people for living their truth.

You definitely have the right to be upset and you should. But you shouldn't want to silence other people and their opinions. Everyone has the right to share their opinions and getting in the habit of silencing others is not something we want to do. Just because you dont agree with their opinions doesnt mean they dont get to say them... This is America for f*cks sake.

Hands up to the sky, I'm about to fly!

No you shouldn't. I dont understand this mindset. What if it were people silencing the voices of LGBT people like they have done in the past? Were you ok with it then? No obviously not, and you shouldn't have been. I'm not advicating that their positions are equally as correct but that doesnt mean that they shouldnt equally get the right to voice them. Also the reason we don't teach flat earthism is because it has no basis in reality and isnt an opinion... Thats not at all the same.

This isn't about a "difference of opinion" anymore. I'm f*cking tired of people saying "Oh, well, it's just my opinion and you need to respect that". How about you respect your community and others along with it? How about you see people as people instead of blaming everything on literally everone/everything else but the problem.

When people are afraid to be who they are—whether that be their religion, their ethnicity, their sexual orientation, etc—then that becomes and issue. Stop trying to defend a bigot.

exactly.

Many ppl do not know that doesn't work if your opinion isn't respectful at the first place. Criticism and disagreement is welcomed, but hateful thoughts and rudeness should not be gaining any respect. "Freedom of speech" doesn't mean you don't have to be responsible for what you speak.

People silencing marginalized voices and giving platforms to those who seek to undermine advances in equality, even if gay themselves, are equally terrible.

I believe that everyone has the right to share their opinion no matter how sh*itty. It definitely does not mean that anyone has to agree with it or that they have to be supported but to just say "No, I dont like your idea, therefore you dont get to say it" Is just wrong.

They can easily spout whatever pro-Trump nonsense at any public street corner they please. A spot in a parade they are not entitled to.

This is somewhat complicated because people shouldn't be denied the right to March for their minority group, but they shouldn't March because they support someone who is against the whole concept. It's confusing, but i think what should have happened is what did happen.

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

This is not a publicly event, this is a privately organized event. And if the organizers feel that holding pro trump signs is detrimental to the cause, they have every right to not allow pro trump stuff.

Is anyone else just enjoying the shitshow that humanity has become? There is no middle-ground anymore. The gay community has become a parody of itself. Politics, too. Neoliberalism needs to keep failing us and maybe some progress will happen. There are a lot of illusions :stalkga: that humans blindly accept.

Daredevil

Black Trans Women  (a minority within a minority) made these Pride festivals happen in the first place. It's not a place for racist pigs who don't realize that they are fighting on the wrong side.

But it would be cool to see these bastards humiliate themselves  :whitney:

While I really do see both sides, you can't support Trump at pride, period. He is the antithesis of what pride events represent.

There are already gonna be a TON of pro-Trump, anti-gay hate groups PROTESTING pride here in D.C., America's statistically gayest city. We don't need pro-trump bs from the inside too.

If Saint Patrick's Day parades can ban gay floats because they aren't "Christian enough", this can happen too. And I didn't see the outrage from the Trump people when that happens every year :sure:
