Most terror attacks are in places with muslim populations. There are relatively few in the americas with more in Europe and even more in the middle east and africa. It seems like this graph is putting countries such as afganistan and Pakistan in the "Asia-Pacific" slice of the chart because the only two countries in Asia with large muslim population are Bangladesh and Indonesia which combined have a total of only 373,000,000. But that's why I'm confused. It's so easy to radicalize them. I wonder what the process is like. And I'm talking more about how families are handling these things because so many people are being radicalized. It's easy for scholars to denounce this stuff, but they aren't the ones being targeted. But I think that solution has to go much further and specific. It's like saying that police officers need to stop targeting black people even though that's not exactly the only issue. Regardless of what is happening, there isn't enough combatting ISIS online or on foreign grounds.

I've looked into some of the radicalization process but since a lot of it is so quiet and relatively unknown, it's hard to find out what exactly happens. I think with a lot of cases it tends to be young people who feel ostracized or the "lone wolf" mentality. Poor family life and even mental health are thought to be strong influences but nothing is certain. I really think government and counter-terrorism efforts need to focus on combating online recruitment because I agree, there isn't a lot being done from that front. Regardless, it's going to be a tough battle.

thatfoxyfeeling 13,401
This is becoming a ****ing joke now, woke up to another attack in London. The UK is one of the best countries in the world, the weather is **** but our culture allows us to be free. I'm lucky to have been born in a country that doesn't kill their citizens in the name of God for being different. They're trying to change our society, don't let them. ❤️

The Philippines (south), Malaysia, China (west) and India (#2 country highest muslim population) all have sizeable muslim populations. But yeah, Pakistan is probably considered Asia-Pacific too. 2 hours ago, Venusfly said: This was the problem back when Al Qaeda were the main perpretrators of terror in the West, they were angered at intervention in the Middle East and campaigned for the west to back off through terrorism. Islamic State are not committing terror because of this. IS are committing terror to establish a global caliphate where the entire world follows their version of Islam and any detractors must be killed, the west to them are considered to be detractors. Pulling out at this point will make the situation so much more worse. I do agree with not selling weapons, though. We must think about what leads these people to radicalize. These people don't care about what the Quran actually says, they want to belong to a group of people that fights for 'justice' against the perceived injustice of Western governments and populations. In the end, I think economic inequality, wars in the ME and the Palestine-Israel situation are the main factors leading to many Muslims being vulnerable for extremist thoughts. These people watch videos of what happened in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Palestine. Seeing people being killed on videos can make them feel the need to do something. Now if someone approaches them or if they look up certain things on the internet they're very vulnerable towards this radicalisation. It's also a well-known fact that in the long term, drone strikes on terrorists actually increases terrorism because the other people who sae it happen radicalize. GagaLogic 194
"The strangest and most untrue thing that can be said about Islam is that it is a religion of peace. If every standard by which the West is judged and condemned (slavery, imperialism, intolerance, misogyny, sexual repression, warfare...) were applied equally to Islam, the verdict would be devastating. Islam never gives up what it conquers, be it religion, culture, language or life. Neither does it make apologies or any real effort at moral progress. It is the least open to dialogue and the most self-absorbed. It is convinced of its own perfection, yet brutally shuns self-examination and represses criticism. This is what makes the Quran's verses of violence so dangerous. They are given the weight of divine command. While Muslim terrorists take them literally, and understand that Islam is incomplete without Jihad, moderates offer little to contradict them - outside of personal opinion. Indeed, what do they have? Speaking of peace and love may win over the ignorant, but when every twelfth verse of Islam's holiest book either speaks to Allah's hatred for non-Muslims or calls for their death, forced conversion, or subjugation, it's little wonder that sympathy for terrorism runs as deeply as it does in the broader community - even if most Muslims prefer not to interpret their personal viewpoint of Islam in this way." From a website that talks about the violence in the other big dumb book I'll never read. The basis of this religion is violence. This book specifically instructs these people to kill. I don't know why anyone thinks these idiots are ever going to change or stop these attacks. Sadness, solidarity, and prayers are going to accomplish exactly jack s**t when it comes to these pricks. These people are at war with the world. If the world doesn't f*****g man up and start hunting these sons of pigs down, then we better expedite that 'move to another planet' idea.
