OMG, it's going to be so hot in summer there, why cannot they go during winter? :duck:

Super excited!

For those of you who don't want to read the article, here are the main points:

The mission's objectives include "tracing the flow of energy that heats and accelerates the sun's corona and solar wind, determining the structure and dynamics of the plasma and magnetic fields at the sources of the solar wind and explore mechanisms that accelerate and transport energetic particles."

The observations and data could provide insight about the physics of stars, change what we know about the mysterious corona, increase understanding of solar wind and help improve forecasting of major space weather events. Those events can impact satellites and astronauts as well as the Earth -- including the power grid and radiation exposure on airline flights, NASA said.

Also, a cool fact about the Parker Probe, is that it will reach a speed up to 450,000mph!

This makes NO sense. Everyone knows it would be smarter if they went at night.

Right!

NASA is being so dumb.

Isn't the sun's atmosphere still too hot? Wouldn't the probe burn up? :oprah:

Regardless of what they say the probe is capable of, I ain't believing until I see it.

I mean it has to withstand 2500 degrees, extreme cold temperatures, and if it returns to earth, re-entry into our atmosphere.

The rapid and drastic temperature changes have to cause at least some shrinkage.

I'm sure the scientists at NASA with decades of experience, years of planning this mission, and all having PhD's know exactly what they're doing, and how to combat the downsides of the mission.

I mean NASA just had a failed rocket launch last year that ended in an explosion and the not too long before that they cancelled Virgin Galactic because it couldn't even make it through testing, having crashed. So my hopes aren't too high.
