The point of the discount is to encourage radio to play the song more and drive more sales in the future. It's more of a long term thing rather than just one week revenue.

I just hope if they want to encourage radio. They should keep the discount forever.. Like Issues. :toofunny:

I completely agree. I just wanted to show the simple economics of the discount to show members on here why Interscope doesn't always keep it discounted.

I really hope TC's iTunes success can spur a second wind on pop radio. Then, when/if promo eventually happens, TC can hopefully repeak, ideally in the top 10.

This is the reason why Interscope doesn't keep the song discounted.

18k * $1.29 = $23.22k in revenue

29k * $0.69 = $20.01k in revenue

Interscope makes more money when the song is not discounted. They really should save the discount until/if some promo happens.

It saves the song from falling.

When the discount stops, it will fall and sell that.

if they don't discount it it will keep falling

they probably want exposure + same revenue

another shot before we kiss the other side

it's true that no discount equals greater revenue than with the discount.. I think it's useless to discount a song if it ain't pushed harder to chart in BB top20.. cause I think the purpose of discounting is to gain points in the chart and maybe for radios to notice it.. but if that doesn't work it's just USELESS imho.

wouldn't we kinda have to compare revenue with the discount today with what it would've been today without the discount, which we don't know, to see its effect. After all, if sales were on a downwards trend it might have meant that revenue was higher today than it would of been without the discount.  Though haven't been following sales so idk if there's a clear trend.

Not if the proportional increase in sales is bigger than the proportional decrease in price, in absolute terms.

Shazam USA updated.

The Cure didn't rise. And it didn't stay flat. So you can guess from there what happened. :derpga:

And this is why pop radio isnt playing it tbh. Shazam seems to have a much bigger impact on what radio programmers add and play than we think

Probably why pop radio is being hesitant with it as well. Also why Despacito and I'm The One were the breakouts from the recent releases, why Say You Won't Let Go took off, etc.

I don't even think TC's Shazam position is that bad tbh. But seems like it needs to be like #1 for it to get any traction. The bias against Gaga is so ridiculous at this point.

Yes, we can see that on australia, she's top 10 shazam there. The US radio might have some bias against gaga :/

The fact that Million Reasons will probably reach around 150M spotify streams by the end of this year is beyond amazing. It had almost no playlist support :golfclap:
