TheBatman 951
The song doesn't have any "gaga-ness" about it. It's catchy and cute though and her voice is really pleasant even if she does sound like she has a cold in the verses. I also wish her vocal placement was different on the chorus, it's too high for her to not "belt it" but it kind of sounds weird and abrupt from the verse to the chorus, especially "If I can't find a cure I," it's kind of harsh sounding. I wish JW had been released officially as a single and gotten more support, the video was fantastic! This was so clearly an attempt to get a hit before the tour, maybe people could smell the desperation through the radio waves? All of this to say, I disagree with the OP. I don't think the Cure is the best pop Gaga has to offer to get a hit, and she has barely promoted it so far. So, I don't think her future success is related to this throwaway track. But I will surely be playing it a lot this summer!
JohnnyVersace 8,987
I think if she came out with some heavily themed, dramatic, artistic, avant-garde songs and videos like Bad Romance, Born This Way and Applause, people would be here for it. Joanne was almost TOO toned down I feel, and gp thought it was a nice album, but didn't feel like her. Tbh controversy sells, and when she was hanging herself, dripping in goo, going on about ARTPOP and walking around with paint and horns on her face, she was doing better on the charts. People want theatrics, not mainstream and basic. She just needs to move back to NY point-blank. It's where she's the most inspired.

I kind of agree that NYGa is a lot more creative and dynamic than LAGa. In fact I remember early on in her career, around The Fame Monster, that Gaga used to be so anti-Hollywood. But she also wanted to be a movie star, even before she wanted to be a singer. Or she wanted to be an all-round entertainer like Bette, Cher and Barbra. So...I think she is just taking a break from being an explosive, outre pop star and doing what she always wanted, which is be a star on the big screen. And then once the hoopla from ASIB dies down (my God that will be around early 2019, after Gaga bags her first Oscar ) she will refocus again on experimenting with pop music. And by then, she will a lot more to sing about

Doot 2
14 hours ago, E Nigma said: o<(0_0)>o If the Cure is not a hit, and by that I mean a Top 10 hit on Billboard Hot 100, then I think nothing Gaga releases is likely to be. I always said that the main reason that Gaga was struggling with the charts was because she always released non trendy and maybe not always relatable music. But my theory was that as long as she released something that is in trend, catchy, and relatable, then she could easily have a hit. Now, I don't necessarily care if she has hits or not,she already achieved a lot and this topic in mainly only for discussion purposes. But The Cure is exactly what Gaga needed to release to have a hit. So I think that if the GP and Radios don't support a song like The Cure then it will be very hard for them to support anything else (specially if Gaga deviates again from on trend pop music). If gaga is not top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100....will that make you like her music less?
dit 46,445
This is sort of true and untrue all at the same time. True: The Cure is super on trend and is on a huge amount of spotify playlists with around 75M+ spotify account followers/audience. It should already be getting 2M WW daily spotify updates but it has been stagnant for a while. Now imagine if some of those playlists remove The Cure...it would get even less then now. TC should not be struggling on streaming at this point and should be in the top 20 WW with the amount of playlist support it has. Untrue: The song is not really her last chance. A part of why TC is not doing so well is the massive competition, no MV and slow radio support/updates. The song showed a ton of promise in it's first few weeks on radio but then everything went on pause when younger, trendier popstars all released tracks. Radio stations decided to slow down their support of TC and jumped on the trendier artists's new songs which is logical and more profitable for them it seems...Gaga is in a tricky positions because she has lost all her VEVO hype as well so an MV won't really do much so radio support was a very important factor in having success with TC. So all in all I feel like TC should not be struggling this much with streaming but I also understand that the reason it has remained stagnant is the lack of radio support and that had there not been such a huge and unexpected amount of competition that it would of had more radio support. Basically Gaga could get another hit in the future BUT it would require PERFECT management on all fronts..meaning streaming, radio, great amazing MV and itunes discounts at the perfect time. all of that would need to be managed perfectly and all be aligned at the sametime to maximize a chance at having a hit. He raises some good points. Gaga will always have some form of success and be relevant but it seems like having a hit song is becoming more and more difficult for her and perhaps not plausible at all at this point. JohnWayne92 2,162
I honestly cant stand to listen to the radio anymore. It all sounds the same. Chainsmokers 1 and Chainsmokers 2. Then, there is Mileys new song, which is already getting massive airplay in Dallas. 1061 KISS FM picked up EVERY new song except The Cure. Its crap. Things just aren't fair. Taylor, Adele and Rih all had number ones in their latest pop eras. It's not fair. Why is my fave not doing as well? It's just such a lifelong narrative for me, as soon I take interest in anything the public's interest wanes. I swear it happens again and again. I guess we just have to get used to stanning talent not bling. I only started stanning Gaga during the AP mess so i am sort of used to Gaga not having mainstream huge success like she had during the TF,TFM,BTW era.
