It's not the religions themselves, it's the people that are taking things too far that are the problem. I'm Roman Catholic—albeit, not a super religious one, but nevertheless, I still identify with that religion—but I certainly don't discriminate and judge other people for what they believe in or don't believe in. I mean, I'm gay and Christian: literally polar opposites. I can't speak to people of other religions because I'm not educated in them, but I can tell you that Christianity teaches love, peace, and unity. Of course, there are crazy people out there that take things way too far and try to force their religions down other people's throats, which is totally uncalled for and unnecessary, but religion is not suppose to be like. It's not the religion, it's the people. By you saying "I'm not going to let them adopt or naturally have children so that they can brainwash them" is just as bad as saying "I don't want to have a gay child because they're sinful and immoral and disgusting". You are tarnishing a group of people, and no, I'm not saying this because I'm Christian, or to defend ignorant people. I'm saying this because you are generalizing a population and that in it of itself is not right. Of course it's the relegions! Religions are terroristic in nature. They tell you if you don't obey commands something bad is going to happen to you eventually. For example,in Christianity you'll burn in eternal fire if you disobey commands. It creates fear among people, cause who would want something bad to happen to them?! So many people are afraid of the consequenses and try to be nice.Which is not a bad thing. But you dont need relegion to have morals,of course. I dont like stealing cause I don't think it's right, not because I'm afraid of punishment from Gods. I'm not saying that religions don't say right and beautiful things,it's just the way it is taught that terrorises people. That's one of the many reasons I'm an atheist. This community is the majority in the world and this majority took it's power to harm other minorities like me and you, so I can generalize and criticize this community.. Because you can't say I'm pro-gay but believe in a god who is anti-gay and precisely commended to kill us all, it makes you turn against your god.. it's not that complicated.. And I'm not talking with my emotions lol I'm talking from my mind. I really don't like a debate that going in circles about generalization and bias accusations, it's kinda boring and moving aside the real subjects.. So let's end this if you don't have anything to say apart from "generalization" And like I said in a previous post, the Bible also condemns eating shellfish, men cutting their hair, getting tattoos, wearing clothing of different materials, etc. etc. etc., and while some people may abide by those rules, the vast majority of people don't because it's not logical or reasonable. While there are people that use the Bible and religion to condemn the LGBTQ+ community, not everyone does, and that is the point I'm trying to make. I'm not denying that it's not happening, I'm not denying that religious people condemn the LGBTQ+ community, I'm not saying that we're not being disrespected or mistreated. You are using you're emotions because you're letting that cloud your vision of an entire community. Like I said before, there are religious people I know that I've even come out to, and they're loving and supportive of me and who I am. It's not talking "from your mind" when you are literally just saying "Everyone in this community is bad because 'x', 'y', 'z'". Like, does that seem logical? Does that seem reasonable? Because I challenge you to tell me why, because you haven't. What you've said is "The Bible says this and if you're a true Christian, you follow it too a tee". God is said to be all loving and all merciful and as long as you genuinely ask for forgiveness, he will forgive you, yada, yada, yada. You can criticize it. You can criticize it's teachings. You can disagree with everything they say. But, you can't just generalize them. If I were to generalize any other minority group for the actions of some of the people you'd be right there to defend them, and that's what I mean by saying that you're "using your emotions". It's because you fundamentally disagree with everything religious people have to say, so you feel like it's easier to criticize them, even though not all of them are like that. Although I disagree with what you said about free will. God created good and evil, He is the all-knowing God, but He created Satan anyway, so shouldn't He be held responsible? He gave "free will" to us all, but the consequences of not believing is Hell - that is about as much free will as a thief gives its victim at gunpoint. Is it fair for us to be doomed to pay for what Adam and Eve has done? They are long gone and we are not them, forcing us to face the consequences of what they have done is cruel. I'm not saying that religious people are bad, but I do believe that religion in itself is not good. This right here is why religion makes NO sense If Bob bakes a cake, but put in salt instead of sugar, it's his fault the cake isn't what the good cook book says it should be. So why does our creator blame us and send us to a pit of eternal fire and damnation when he made us the way we are? Life ain't Hollywood for any one of us. Fun fact: Anyone who has SERIOUSLY taken up (Christian) religious studies (in a respected institution) will tell you that any religious person that claims you will go to hell is a blasphemous fraud, because Jesus Christ died for OUR sins on the cross. If somebody implied that we would go to hell anyway, despite God sacrificing his own son for us to come clean, is basically that God's will is irrelevant and that Jesus died for literally NOTHING. So religious hardliners: Catch the motherf*cking tea on that.
