If ARTPOP was released in 2012...

Of course. People were still very interested in her, she took too long to release the album, and when it came out the 'feud' with Katy overshadowed everything, Katy won and Gaga was made out to be a failure, which put a negative spin on every little thing that surrounded the era.

I know they had a feud but was the feud really about? Was Katy copying Gaga part of it?

This, the Katy comparisons and Miley comparisons overshadowed her completely. Any stage Gaga was on, Miley was on doing something way out there.

True, I forgot all about Miley already. In 2012 Gaga would have basically had zero competition.

Tbh it was all the media's doing. Gaga didn't actually say anything about Katy, apart from stating that she was a very different kind of artist. She kinda shaded her later when she implied that Katy had copied a couple of things from her.

It would have performed a lot better properly. A lot of the tracks sound like they kind of belong in 2012.

Yeah, imagine how hard GUY would've slayed in 2012.

Ew only if she changed that dreadful chorus :poot: drags the song down

Believe me, it would've smashed in 2012. Gaga got buried in bad press and radio dropped her.

EDM started growing in 2013 way more than in 2012.

EDM songs in 2012, that were in the top 25 that year.

We Found Love.

EDM songs in 2013, that were in the top 25 that year.

Wake Me Up, Get Lucky, Applause, Don't You Worry Child, Scream & Shout.

And the list gets bigger as years pass.

However, I think it would have been better to release it before Katy's era with a better management.

But now it's Katy who's flopping harder than anyone before and Gaga is on top of her game. Right now no one except for hardcore fans remembers about the exaggerated and blown-out-of-proportions feud the media had created.

But overall, I agree had ARTPOP been released at the beginning of 2013 , it would have definitely  performed much better. DWUW would have smashed if it hadn't been for rape accusations heaped on R Kelly. No matter what one makes of him, the song sounds like a classic. So many wasted bops and potential hits the album attains including Sexxx Dreams. Well, much to my regret , we cannot turn back time but we ought to be happy with the way things are now. Gaga's changed for the better and evolved. She looks terrific , JONNE is a great and memorable album that I'm listening to through my headphones at the moment. I'm so proud of our little girl , she's a mighty  warrior and she's gone through a lot of **** but somehow she managed to recuperate. She's a person I really look up to. She's a role model and she's like our second mother , isn't she ?

There is no way to know that but her plans were to do that until she had to get surgery. Coming after The Fame/TFM in 2009 and 2010, she then took a small break to release Born This Way in 2011. A year break between that and ARTPOP would've either been great or people would've gotten sick of seeing her everywhere all the time.

I'm actually glad she waited though, songs like Venus and Do What U Want were probably recorded in 2013 and are amazing. Of course, we'd have had a more experimental album with Azealia, Tea, Partynauseous, Tinnitus, etc. but in the end I trust Gaga. I'd love to hear Act II but yeah, things would've obviously been super different had she released the album in 2012.

No. By late 2011 GP was tired of gimmicks. Adele was the Anti-Gaga treatment to ears & many alternative indie bands started getting to spotlight. She paid the price of being the top artist for 2 consecutive years.

The year doesn't care... ARTPOP would have slayed if it hadn't problems with promo.

How come people say it had promo problems? I'm not questioning you, I just wasn't a Monster in 2013.

Gaga stopped doing proper promo with Marry The Night. She stopped visiting Europe (bar the UK, a radio interview in France and a party in Germany), she never performed on TV again anywhere apart from the US, the UK and Japan. That is just THREE countries. She took too long to release music videos. She CANCELLED music videos. She took like 7 months to release G.U.Y. after Do What U Want. She literally disappeared off the face of the earth between those two singles.

Since the end of the Born This Way era she has focused on three markets: Us/Uk/Japan.

Oh yeah I heard about all that mess and also picked up on how she only really focuses on the UK/US and Japan. Luckily I like in the UK. Hopefully LG6, whenever it comes, is handled to a higher standard.
