Gaga Monster 13,001
The last government shutdown was in 2013 under Obama, previous was 1995-1996 under Clinton. A government shutdown is the process the Executive Branch must enter into when the Congress creates a "funding gap" by choosing not to or failing to pass legislation funding government operations and agencies, or, after the Congress passes a bill to fund the government and sends it to the President, the President vetoes that bill. Gaga Monster 13,001
My take: Yes, we defiantly need to negotiate a better budget in September. A $1 Trillion Budget is ridiculous, that is too much spending and too much debt. But come on, you can't threaten a government shut down, that is unprofessional GGD Presidential Elections

YeehawKylie 7,817
He should put his much touted 'great negotiation skills' to use, rather than threaten a shut down and change to how certain laws or budgets are passed. That would require a level head and ounce of maturity though...

The world is collectively in massive "debt" and no countries have more leverage over the other. It's mostly just used as a political vantage point for a public that see a big scary number. Actually it does mean something. The more debt, the more interest the US government has to pay to foreign countries. We already spend a good portion of our budget on just paying interest on debt. But a $1 Trillion budget is crazy, that is just insane. They need to negotiate a lower budget without cutting essential programs GGD Presidential Elections
Emvee 8,869
Simple solution: cut the defense budget by 200 billion dollars and create Wall Street taxes, and raise the tax rate for the top bracket to 50-70%. l

The tax rate for the wealthy was 91% at a time when we were the most prosperous country in the world. That tax rate has historically been high until the some dumbass came up with "trickle down economics." Now we are not so prosperous. Besides, people who make that type of money don't do so in a vacuum. They depend on a strong consumer middle class. This is what makes our economy go. All rich people do is stash their money in offshore savings, which hurts our economy. This is not even a radical idea, yet some Americans act as if it were communism. But the point is, tax cuts and defense increases don't close budget gaps. And many programs that Trump and Republicans target are immoral to target. A lot of 1% people are self made, they made it to the top themselves. If they earn $100 Million, they shouldn't be only allowed to keep $30 Million. That is crazy and not right. So if Gaga made 100 million dollars busting her ass (and hip) in a year touring, releasing music videos, writing and singing new songs, being in a tv show, etc -- you only want her to see 9 million of that hard-earned money? Ridiculous. Tax rate should NEVER go above 49%. Do you pay taxes, New Compassion? Do you work for a living? I do, and seeing 40% of my earnings just automatically go away when I'm young and need the money...it's pretty frustrating. Especially since most of our taxes go towards idiotic things. I do not feel bad that someone gets 9 million instead of 100 million, as long as that 91 million goes toward the benefit of thousands in need, not just one person. THAT is compassion. Compassion is giving those who have less, even though you bust your ass for your money. Would you like me to define anymore words for you? Yes, I mother ****ing pay taxes. And I don't bitch about every second I get. I need my money just as much and, I don't know about you... but I don't make over 90k a year. I use every single cent of my money and throw it back into the economy every damn day. And I hear you on the distribution of our budget. I would be 1000x happier to give away all 90% of my money if it went to things that actually benefited me and us as a country.
