"Lady Gaga" as a brand is still associated with crazy costumes and electropop bangers, and I feel that C2C and Joanne are still judged under that lens. I think branding is one of the most important aspects of a popstars career, and Gaga has kind of had a branding crisis. People can't pin her as something, and never know what to expect, hence they don't become brand loyal. I think if Gaga became Stefani Germanotta, her music/image would gain more attention and public interest would rise. Gaga would essentially be a new artist, and critics and the GP would be open to her in a new way. What do you think? I think she's going in this direction with ASIB.

Just when you think you know what or who lady Gaga is. You don't. That's my answer.

People fell in love with Lady Gaga from the start... why would she change her name?

She might as well drop her career with it. Sorry, but the whole idea of a "stripped down, normal looking Stefani" isn't working. Some fans do like it, some pretend to like it, but it won't take her anywhere near what she once was to the world and her fan base. And she said it before that Gaga isn't just a persona, it's herself. Dropping her name now, and adopting a new person would definitely end whatever she has left of her career and popularity.

How did I miss this thread?

Im currently writing a paper on the use of pseudonym as a piece of monetary and brand value. Focusing on Lady Gaga and Prince specifically.

to paraphrase gaga's own words: if you were to imply that she should drop her stage name—which she doesn't even consider one, btw—, she'd punch your so hard, you teeth would fall out. like... how dare you? it would be insulting and a big fünk yoü to everything she has accomplished so far. NO WAY.

Do you have receipts for this please? I don't remember her saying this but it would be so useful.

The hardest thing in this world is to live in it
