lifeasgeorge 9,427
DIC would smash as hard as G.U.Y. I'm here for A-Yo as the third single and wrap up with Joanne as fourth and in between release a video for DIC a la John Wayne for the fans live and let live

TheKillerQueen 1,983
It's not that it's to sexual, it's how cringeworthy how the lyrics are put... The only way I can enjoy the song is to listen to the instrumental. This is just not the type of song I want my mom to listen to with me in the car. Lace up my boots, throw on some leather and cruise.

REALITY 76,270
I'm both a DICster and an A-YOster, so as long as one of them gets put up as the next single, I'm okay I think the arguments made against DIC are sort of iffy. I don't think it's awkard or too sexual at all. Plus, it fits the whole tropical-style pop music that's really popular these days. I can really see it being a huge hit. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎
StrawberryBlond 14,820
I swear, this thread comes up at least once a week. I don't know how many times we have to go over this. There's acceptance and unacceptable ways of expressing sexuality and this song is simply too unacceptable in its lyrics for radio. How can you make a clean version of this? You can't change the lyrics in such a way that it works. I always have a reason for why any raunchy song became a hit but the only one I don't have an answer for is I Touch Myself by Divinyls. I mean, DIC is basically the same song, only it's enjoying being lonely. But I think that song was just so out-there that it was a novelty back in 1990. I don't think a song that is so honest in its lyrics would be allowed on radio. I really don't understand why some people say it could be a summer smash either because of its summery sound. When has a song that sounds like this ever been a hit in the summer? Come to think of it, when the hell has a song like this ever been popular? It's one for the fans, not for the public. It's too campy for the public to contemplate. 14 minutes ago, Whispering said: DIC is going to be awkward and uncomfortable for a majority of girls, women, moms to hear on the radio...and those are the major listening groups of pop radio. Just like G.U.Y., that females didn't get or relate to, DIC is a song that isn't going to work with the main demo group of pop radio. I second that. I can't even imagine how embarrassing it would be to hear this song in front of my parents. It's hardly a song you can sing along to in front of others...or play on the school run...or at your kid's birthday party...or say this is your favourite song of the moment. A song like this was designed to be listened to in private, in more ways than one! I've said before that A-Yo could work because it's an acceptable sex song. I could actually stand to listen to that one in front of my parents. Plus, the public has proven to have liked it. And this was the song that Gaga originally wanted as a single before the label stepped in and changed it to Million Reasons. So, everyone's a winner if it gets chosen. It would be mad not to pick that song right now. And its potential needs to be used now, when it's spring and everyone wants a happy, upbeat song. I hate it when her label leave some of her best, most hit-worthy songs for the last single, when she's not given adequate promotion and no one cares enough anymore to buy it anyway because the era's over. I hate it when her label leave some of her best, most hit-worthy songs for the last single, when she's not given adequate promotion and no one cares enough anymore to buy it anyway because the era's over. All those things could easily be said about a song like Anaconda though. Anaconda was a massive success and it wasn't subtle or discrete about its meaning. I also don't understand how DIC was suppose to be "listened to in private". I mean, I get what you mean (*wink, wink*) but if anything, this song was suppose to be meant to be played out loud and just overall be a very sexy and relevant (in today's industry) song. Honestly, I'd be okay with A-YO or DIC, but these "It's too sexual" or "It's awkward" arguments don't make any sense to me. There have been plenty of songs, both subtle and not, about sex and they've gotten popular. Also, how is A-YO an "acceptable sex song"? It's a song about paying dust to your haters, not sex. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎
youandi 2,110
Could she just release a version that says 'Love my self to pass the time' instead? If it was to go to radio anyway. I think that song could go either way, but summer could do it some good, I'm not sure. I'm guessing she'll either release that or A-Yo
SpookyKid 15,153
I don't think the problem it's it being too sexual, the problem it's about it being about masturbation, wich is a tabboo topic Spoiler And it's my least favorite from Joanne Life has a hopeful undertone |-/
