Ofc she lacks a soul. She's dead. Have some respect for God's sake.

Uh a messy thread:reductive:

Joanne had more soul than BTW and The Fame and Fame Monster combined lol :reductive:

Dont come for ARTPOP, this masterpiece includes a lot of deep and emotional messages (Dope, Swine, DWUW)

Aunt Joanne is different than other Gaga's albums, but it's not that bad. Of course I like her previous albums more but Joanne is good and it has a soul

The absolute carnage in this thread :toofunny:

I wish someone would lie and tell me they wanted an album like joanne over an album more in line with BTW and TFM.

If this had been her debut i doubt half, if not most of yall, wouldn't have stuck around for the sophomore album. And I cannot tell people they are wrong for their tastes, but I genuinely feel like those who say they enjoy this album are saying that to try and convince themselves they do, because for as much as this site cries 'basic', 'trash', 'poor taste', it sure is funny how much yall like joanne.

OT: is it souless? No.

I completely disagree, the song Joanne alone is all soul, as are others. There ARE a few that I would agree about and I find those songs prevent the album from feeling cohesive, while playing the entire album in full setting. I have often felt like Lady Gaga's music from the start was only often lacking of pure soul and this time, I feel like she really did go there and she did find it and poured her soul into it and it makes me think that she really is branching out with her artistry and growing up and using her experiences to get better and fuller as an artist. This is a fine step from Gaga in her climb to fully embrace what being a true and moving artist is truly inquired to present to an audience.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

Completely disagree. There are certain songs on Joanne where Gaga basically bares her soul. Like the title track and Million Reasons. Perfect Illusion and Diamond Heart are also examples where she really puts all her emotion into the vocals. I could go on but I'll keep this response short.

Wow this is the first time one of my comments has reached 100 likes! Thanks guys! And I guess we know which person most of the forum agrees with. :giggle:

Yeah I agree. It doesn't seem to have the passion behind it but I think that's just because it's so far removed from her previous sound.

Also, the country twang doesn't help.

The hardest thing in this world is to live in it

Or, we aren't so narrow-minded musically that we can grasp the fact that Gaga wanted to try another route, succeeded, and put out some quality music?

Been a long time but I'm back in town, and this time I'm not leaving without you
