gagajandro25 6,103
Okay so I did a little research and searching on albums released since January 2016 to now as well as major album eras in the past year/two and the Joanne era is on par or better than many others, yet people say Joanne is doing awful? After this week, Joanne has now passed Ariana (DW - 1.2 million WW) and Sia (TIA - 1.2 million WW) in pure worldwide album sales after only four months. She'll catch up to Rihanna (ANTi - 1.6 million WW) pure worldwide sales within a few months. She's on par/close with Bruno (24kM - 1.6 million WW) and The Weeknd's (Starboy - 1.4 million WW) pure worldwide sales. The only albums released from January 2016 to now that are far and ahead would be Lemonade (2.8 million pure WW) and Views (2.8 million pure WW). Really the only artists far and ahead of Gaga (Joanne) in pure album sales of the eras/albums of past year or two would be Adele (25 - 20 million pure WW), Taylor (1989 - 9.5 million pure WW), Justin (Purpose - 5.3 million pure WW), Drake (Views - 2.8 million pure WW), Ed (probably) and Beyonce (Lemonade - 2.8 million pure WW). So why do people treat Gaga/Joanne like it's doing so awful when it's doing amazing and has a top five single soon to be platinum in the US? With radio back on her side and getting the sales, she's arguably only missing the YouTube/Spotify streams now. She's honestly in the Top 10 artists currently out right now, and that's no small feat. By the end of the year, who knows what the Joanne era will have brought us after a few more singles/videos, more promotion, the tour, etc. Million Reasons is helping album sales greatly, imagine what a few more singles will do and promotion and the world tour. Are people just being hypocritical when they treat Gaga like a bottom of the barrel artist now and Joanne like it's doing awful? Are they just upset that Gaga has clawed her way back and is succeeding again? Discuss Lady Gaga is a legend and you will deal with it
Fiona Apple 13,006
Joanne is not a smash but it's definitely not a flop either. I expected it to do a lot worse after PI being a disaster

It would have to be up there with Taylor and Justin to be a smash, but it's still doing amazingly placing Gaga in the Top 10 artists out right now which is great. Red 94,523
Because people insist to think we still are in 2011 If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.
Bradley 57,122
At this point, Gaga doesn't seem to care anymore. A lot of smaller artists are still not able to attain the sales as attained by Gaga, Rihanna and Ariana so they are doing fine, and their numbers are being envied by many. Well Lemonade and Views ARE smashes though for 2016-2017's standards... I'd say that album-wise the album is on par with the relatively successful albums (Dangerous Woman,This Is Acting). Single-wise though it didn't do well for a popgirl. Million reasons is now saving the era though

Gaga's honestly in the top 10 artists out right now success/album sales wise and that's amazing, even if she doesn't care. I just wanted to point out that people like to treat Joanne like it's doing awful for no reason because they're bitter and hypocritical. Fernster7 7,845
They want to believe the era is not successful to have an excuse because they want Gaga to go back to dance music, because that's the kind of music they like and can be successful. They are just stupid tbh. We have two selves. One the world needs us to be, compliant, and the shadow. Ignore it and life is forever suffering. Panchecco 17,408
they should open a site with all the numbers (sales, streams, youtube views...) in real time so that people can actually see when an album or a single is doing good or bad. And there could also be a section where you can see the album numbers in a specific period of time (in the first week, in the first 2 months, 6 months since their release etc..) it's absurd to me that people still call her "flop" for no reason

She's proven the opposite, she's doing quite well. Obviously they can't handle it and are bitter. DeanWinchester 41,390
It's because SPS ruins Gaga's amazing sales. Gaga is definitely still a great album seller but once you factor in streaming she becomes such a non-event that smaller artists easily catch up to her. She really needs to fix her streaming but she most likely wont Flyin' like a 1000 Doves
The Fame Joanne 5,985
I'd say the biggest problem is, that the era is pretty local. For people in Europe (except Switzerland), she is basically non-existent with Joanne. The album and the singles flopped tragically here

Decodekid 26,672
Because sadly, it is still fun to make fun of Gaga for no reason. Imo Gaga is a legend, she has achieved a lot, has done a lot, and some people just like to ignore that Long Live Gretchen
