It's to raise awareness of what's going on in America with the brutality and discrimination black people go through. I don't like Beyonce's music (just not a fan of the production) and I do think people overrate her but I think she deserves her success and I respect her for using her platform to raise awareness of BLM. Whether it's genuine or not, it got people talking and that's what matters. "Oh yeah, baby, oh yeah I, ohhhhh, oh, yes, I like that I did not come to play with you hoes, haha I came to slay, bitch I like cornbreads and collard greens, bitch Oh, yes, you besta believe it" "I see it, I want it, I stunt, yellow bone it I dream it, I work hard, I grind 'til I own it I twirl on them haters, albino alligators El Camino with the seat low, sippin' Cuervo with no chaser Sometimes I go off (I go off), I go hard (I go hard) Get what's mine (take what's mine), I'm a star (I'm a star) Cause I slay (slay), I slay (hey), I slay (okay), I slay (okay) All day (okay), I slay (okay), I slay (okay), I slay (okay) We gon' slay (slay), gon' slay (okay), we slay (okay), I slay (okay) I slay (okay), okay (okay), I slay (okay), okay, okay, okay, okay Okay, okay, ladies, now let's get in formation, 'cause I slay Okay, ladies, now let's get in formation, 'cause I slay Prove to me you got some coordination, 'cause I slay Slay trick, or you get eliminated" sis? this literally has no connection to BLM at all. Most of these songs are more meaningful than her biggest hits, and you someone chose to talk about dancing in circles, which is the closest she could get to her older stuff, so you're only proving my point. Don't even try it. We all know that most of these songs are not relevant at all. We also know that she has not put out a good album since Born This Way, because ARTPOP's concept was messed up, and Joanne's concept is weak and weird. She didn't even write TIHTY herself. Grigio Girls is about her and her friends. Come to Mama was written by Father John Misty and you can even hear his own version. Joanne is just about herself and her aunt that nobody knows about except the fans. Million Reasons and Perfect Illusion are love songs and that's all (they're good though). Gaga used to make songs like Hair and The Edge of Glory and she sounded cool and brave. Joanne is not even close to that. It's a good pop album, especially if you consider the amount of trash music in current pop music, but it's not healing the world because it's just too much about herself and her family and her friends. Angel down shits all over this cheesy song from every aspect and I don't see y'all praising her? I do think Angel Down is the better song but are you aware that if you ask which songs are more meaningful to most black folks they will still answer Formation? Sometimes when you are too literal with your lyrics it comes off as contrived and inauthentic. In fact I saw Gaga receive some backlash on twitter when she bragged about writing a song about Trayvon Martin and many members from the BLM movement argued with her on why she feels the need to shove the message down people's throat in a "in your face" way instead of supporting from day one and using the victims name on the song. It's great that she's "woke" now but I can see why a few people are conflicted with that song. She even said herself in the Beats interview that she felt the need to write that song but it's hard for her because she's not an african american woman and she doesn't know what they go through.
