I'm listening a lot to Shania Twain music lately and I can't prevent myself of thinking that Gaga was inspired by Shania when she did Joanne. Not saying she copied of course (just emphasizes it ;) ).  What do you think ? Was she source of inspiration for Gaga ? :)

and much more :)

I can hear the inspiration from Up!, definitely.

Anyway, Joanne is clearly one of the most "inspired-by" albums from Gaga. Not even Born This Way was so obviously inspired by other sounds. Diamond Heart, A-Yo, Dancin' in Circles, Million Reasons, Hey Girl, Just Another Day, Gaga clearly took inspiration from previous sounds and artists, it's the less "unique" album.

I don't see it. Some songs on Joanne are obviously influenced by country music, but I think Lady Gaga has been inspired by more proper country artists than Shania Twain. The only thing that's country about Shania Twain is that her music has been produced in Nashville (if I'm not mistaken). Some of Lady Gaga's songs actually sound more country to me than Shania Twain. I don't say that as criticism, I actually used to listen to Shania Twain (although I got tired of her music).

Yeah actually Joanne has those sounds you can definitely hear on Shania's albums 'Up!' and 'Come On Over'. A mix of pop / country / rock.

Someone thought Grigio Girls was a Shania Twain song in my car

Quite funny because I didn't even thought of that song when I made this thread :yay:

There's definitely some vibes on all the songs I think, especially on Million Reasons, Sinner's Prayers, A-YO, John Wayne.

They share genres. They're bound to share some similarities. My mom always asks me if Yoü and I was by Shania or Alanis

I was hyped for Gaga to make her own version of Come On Over (international) but it didn't happen  Just imagine
