Ideologically, it goes against what Hillary and Gaga were preaching about. Pragmatically, it makes it even harder for the US to move forward. Bebe 17,289 Posted November 9, 2016 Share Posted November 9, 2016 To those who are currently/or are going to complain about the divisiveness of this thread, about how it doesn't help anyone and how it's not pragmatic: Trump and his supporters can't suddenly turn around after an entire campaign built upon some of the nastiest and most divisive rhetoric against women, immigrants, people of colour and muslims and say "What? Let's all come together in peace and love! Just because we have different opinions doesn't mean anything! Let's all hug and accept Trump!" It's all well and good to say everyone should unite and be positive, but this was a nasty election cycle and there are some very real and devastating consequences to this election that people need to come to terms with. Let people complain, let people vent, let people feel angry. They are not wrong for being upset and angry. Trump and his supporters have been spreading divisive, toxic rhetoric for over a year. I had this to say last night: "We cannot express hatred towards Trump. Even though he is everything I'm not, he is now responsible for what may be. We must in some way assume that he will end up doing better than what we expected. Hoping that Trump will fail or be a terrible President is not an option at this point. Because his failure will be our failure." I don't see the country uniting at all, but we can't lose hope. We just need to be prepared to fight back. But again, we don't have any other option.
