The most offensive thing about NYT article

I don't get it, how can this be a review if they're just personally attacking her? Who has the energy to write that ****

Or maybe people genuinely love the album and don't agree with their review.

Their review was pretty immature, but the reaction people here have been giving it really projects the insecurity of this fan base. Most of us don't even know how to view Joanne, that's the truth. Most want to love it so bad that we have to force ourselves to appreciate certain bits.

Her "feud" with The Chainsmokers has been discussed non-stop on this forum for weeks, it's been in the headlines of tons of blogs, there is no reason why it would be off limits for a NYT critic. The Chainsmokers make fun EDM music, the same kind of music that gave Gaga a career. There is nothing offensive about him suggesting they should collaborate rather than have a stupid twitter feud.

The reason this negative review has touched a nerve in this fan base is simple.

Fans didn't get validation from a successful lead single, so they put all their hopes in this album being well received by critics, now faced with the realization that this album may not be commercially or critically successful they are loosing their ****.

Stop seeking outside validation and just enjoy the music.

There are many problems with this NYC article. 1) Many of the criticisms are purely subjective and he purposely doesn't stress that out. Any good and serious critic knows that unless he can state and objetive, tangible reason for the critic, it sounds just like an opinion.

2) He won't let her change. That's why he doesn't like it. He doesn't seem to be able to understand the fact that, doing different, stripped down things do not mean Gaga is turning her back on what she's done in the past. Its just that people CHANGE. And whats worst: he credits her with saying that her past style was not legitimate enough. And she has NEVER said that. Nor she ever will.

Speak for yourself, thanks.

"Most of us don't even know how to view Joanne" is an opinion and it would be great if you would stop pushing it as a fact. You want to love if so bad that you have to force yourself to appreciate certain bits? That's fine, but your views don't mirror the rest of the forum. Why is it so hard to comprehend that fans understand and  geniunely enjoy this new direction?

Well, it's a review. You can't force them to be positive. Sure, they might be biased or unfair, but that's just journalism. I'm more than happy with the album, I was hoping to see a really positive score, but ultimately it doesn't matter. I know it's good.

So EDM music handed Gaga her career? The hours that she has put in as a genuine performer, artist, and musician are so easily weighed against The Chainsmokers, who produce lackluster unoriginal music, can barely perform live, and genuinely expect things to just be handed to them while having no respect for those who came before them because they are "maverick" EDM producers? Gimme a break.

The reason why most of us don't enjoy these articles, is because they tend to overshadow any musical composition, lyrical wit, or genuine hard work put in, for exactly what has been said. We have The Fame, The Fame Monster, Born This Way, and ARTPOP, we haven't lost them, and we never will. I will always support Gaga's daring change against her own past career, and I will always support her hard work as an artist, because 100% of the time, that is what I care about. Not all of us are popstans and until people stop treating Gaga as some sort of social media event with no substance, they will always be missing the point and we will always rush to point it out.

Cool. I disagree.
