Mexican artist and Shawn Mendes withdrew FIFA song over Trump and Gaza

Teotecpatl Santin Martinez says he recorded the official World Cup song with Shawn Mendes, but they ultimately chose to withdraw following remarks by FIFA’s president about building a stadium in Gaza and supporting Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.

teotecpatl_jaguar: I want to share with you that in January I had one of the most incredible experiences in my life as a musician, I had the opportunity to share, thanks to the invitation from @xiuhtezcatl in a recording that would be the official song of the World Cup. In which I had the opportunity to meet the incredible artist and singer @rutadelajolote and all his team, and bring them to the chinampas of Xochimilco, with our friends of the @shawnmendes and share our Xochimilca and Mexican culture. When I heard about the project I didn't think it was true, and I never imagined I'd end up recording in a studio with @shawnmendes and their producer Mike, simple peronas but with a brutal talent. And having had the opportunity to record in the studio with our teachers @celsoduarte.py precursors of pre- Hispanic music and with our brother @euclides barreravalencia one of the best artists in Mexico and the world, and with my brother @huemac.olivares.primitivamusic, and our project @musicatribu with my carnales @miktlan.beads and @yaotecame_ and of course @xiuhtezcatl and its teams, and that is the pride of all of us and great representative of our Xochimilca and Mexican culture in the world.
It was truly amazing to have participated in this beautiful song and to have recorded with @shawn mendes it was insane.
 

In the end the song was chosen but after the team and the whole project decided not to participate, and that the song was not used, as it did not agree with the values that is sought to promote, it was a difficult decision but the most correct and despite how complicated we are we are happy with the decision, because ethical values are more valuable than anything else. But we stayed with an amazing experience, lo
had it saved but wanted to share now.

And the morale is something that reminds me of a defracism of ancient Mexico: In Pohtli in Ayahuitl- Dust and Fog- and it means Fame, because fame as well as dust and fog are extinct; and it is that even if the song had been heard all over the world, is more valuable the only thing we take on earth, which is joy.
