I pictured Gaga going upstairs and writing the song immediately after it happened "had on a pretty little number that I'm wearing still" But I also thought it had something to do with herself and her exes/Taylor as well... Really interesting and credible interpretation but I feel like most of the time her lines aren't necessarily so close to events that happened in her life. From the "saying forever too fast" line, I'm guessing he fell madly in love with her and she loved how he loved her more than him personally. He says forever too fast, like he says "I want to be with you forever" before she really knew what she wanted. She's surprised she's stuck with him this long and not tried another man. Clearly she still doesn't know what she wants. Edit: And in John Wayne, the lines "Two lovers, headed for a dead end "Too fast, hold tight, he laughs Runnin' through the red lights" Maybe this is a metaphor for their relationship, that things were moving too fast for her but he brushed off her concerns and kept going like it was nothing.
