Like I said artistic choices.

You have clearly never produced a song. Artistic choices are made during the recording and arranging of the song. Mixing a song can only be 'artistic' to a certain point. It's more about making sure levels are correct and everything flows together smoothly, to put it simply. Much more technical than artistic.

so what, you think someone mixed down the song and Gaga, Ronson, Bloodpop, and Kevin never heard and approved the final result?   it's either that or all of them are incompetent in your opinion.

:awkney: no. I was just saying the 4 of them should have spent some more time on mixing the song or brought in some other people for feedback. They have all made some killer tracks but it seems they didn't spend as much time on this track or something because it's not as cohesive or polished as some of their previous catalog -- I just expected a higher caliber of work from top-level producers.

The grass is always greener, isn't it??

I mean there's no way to say what a Gaga x RedOne collab would have sounded like in 2016, but I always thought his work elsewhere from Gaga was uninspired and generic, and no that was not how their creative relationship was 2008-2011, but Gaga has been there done that. She took a new direction and approached the process differently with LG5, and Red wasn't the collaborator this time around, for where Gaga is in her life and the music she is trying to make. There's a reason she went on the journey she went on with LG5, and there's a reason she took that journey with Mark. Gaga's strength is in rebirth, there will never be another Bad Romance, because there is already a Bad Romance, and SHE did that, and there's other things to be done now. Would you rather her evolve or be accused of trying to please the public and play off of previous strengths and cash in on GP expectation (hm, sounds a lot like ARTPOP criticism...) So NO. I wouldn't have preferred a RedOne lead single.

I understand this but the issue is Gaga only delivers her all when it comes to pure pop songs, basically the dynamic between Gaga and Redone, the songs they did together, just by hearing those songs it feels like she doesn't even have to try, they mesh so well together, it's all organic and iconic. So while i love a new sound, I think she should not do something, unless she can excel at it, Perfect Illusion is a very good punk song but nothing extraordinary. Many songs with the same genre as Perfect Illusion sound better. What I'm trying to say an artist should not dive into new waters for the sake of changing it up, Gaga could have done better and that's just my version of the truth. I rather an artist not change sounds if that means the quality is top notch.

misunderstood

No, a few months ago I would have been shocked that I said that but I wouldn't because I was actually really curious to hear what Mark, Blood, and Kevin came up with together back in May.

All of you people into Redone need to move the hell on. Gaga has.

She doesn't care whether or not Perfect Illusions is a bestseller.

She just wants to release music and have people enjoy it.

I just feel like Gaga had the GP on her side and PI pushed it right back away.

I mean I love the song, but it took a while to grow on me. And when I listened to BR today, it made me like PI less. RedOne knew Gaga & what to do with her. Sad that Gaga herself doesn't realize that, because he sure does.

Kevin came with the idea of a demo song-like :saladga:

Kevin had  a demo of an idea, which they stripped back and redid according to Gaga.  She has always taken ideas from producers, it's a collaboration.   I don't know why people keep trying to make this a big deal.  She has worked this way on every single album.  Some ideas come from her producers, some from herself, and they collaborate.
