Well, right-wing ideology is becoming more popular in Europe and elsewhere with the recent economic downturn and immigrant crisis, etc. Not sure if Brexit is part of that right-wing rise though.

In the history of the world, moves to the right generally don't go well.

It usually ends up in war, or crusades, or inquisition, or Nazis, theocracies, or a cold war that almost killed us all, etc.

The UK isn't going to riot like Ukraine. Lmao.

Oh really?

I remember these little English shenanigans back in 2011 ;)

Well I guess so (and honestly, if it secured staying in the EU I wouldn't even care) but it would be completely uncharted territory for a country that rarely holds national referenda.

Well this doesn't exactly have a precedent either.

Leave is running away with it.

85% probability according to ITV.

Only one more Scottish Borough

Almost everyone outside London are voting Leave

Birmingham and remaining London boroughs are their only hope imo.

In my messy era.

Same can be said of moves to the left. Stalin, Mao, etc. Extremes in any direction are bad.

Anyways: "left" and "right" are very recent inventions. Most of recorded history there was no right and left.

There have always been liberals and conservatives. It's a spectrum of attitudes towards current policies.

The fight between tradition and progress has raged on throughout the millenia.

In this case the "tradition" is nationalism and tribalism.

Clinton will be the next president though. Keep dreaming.

I wouldn't be surprised if she rigged the election but the pundits were also sure that the UK would choose to remain and look how that worked out. The right is winning, honey. Deal with it! RULE BRITANNIA!

Sad, sad day for Europe.

On the bright side, the EU can finally have some left wing policy. I hope with all of my heart that the regulation in the UK to be able to trade with the EU will grow even though they leave. I hope the UK will be caught in a recession. I hope Scotland will vote for independence. I hope the trade deal will be significantly more to the benefit of the EU than the UK. Don't give eurosceptics in the rest of Europe ammunition. If the netherlands ever leaves, I'll probably move to Germany, the only progressive country left (but no gay marriage :laughga: )

True, it's more a move toward nationalism and isolationism.  That's worked so well for North Korea.

I'm so much of an idealist that I actually hope someday this world is like the song "Imagine" by John Lennon. :)  No countries, no borders.  That's probably a million years away though. :P

And after tonight it might be a million and fifty years.
