Well she could have made more alterations to the original song? That doesn't sound unfair to me.

Eh, sometimes I feel like Gaga's more humble than she should be (funny; other times the complete opposite also, haha). I'm really curious as to what the overall creative and productive process of this song was like- it obviously went a different path than most Gaga songs.

3 points in and ready for more

I don't think she was very aware of the pre-requisite of the Emmys, she probably thought she had enough involvement for the Oscars and that should be enough for the Emmys too.

I can't with people trying to discredit Gaga's involvement in the song :toofunny:.

I think it's pretty clear by now that Diane had the lyrics, chords in piano and basic melody already made, some people think that just that constitutes writing a song and that everything that's changed from that point till the song it's out doesn't matter.

Gaga took the song and transformed it from a sad piano ballad to a triumphant rock ballad using a different arragement with new instruments added in, in other words, she added notes played by new instruments into the composition, if that's not writing a song I don't know what is.

I can't at people thinking that if a write a song with lyrics and some chords and someone comes and rearranges it, adds instruments, gives it a completely different mood, and makes it completely different, that person doesn't deserve a writing credit or that their contribution isn't important.

It's okay. The Countess has this in the back. Dianne and Gaga should do an other song for a movie and Gaga should star in "A Star is Born".

I hope you're right! Apparently Sarah Paulson is everyone's favorite this year. We don't even know if Gaga could get nominated.

That's production, actually. None of the instruments (not even the piano) have main melodies of their own and none of the changes Gaga made sound-wise impact the main vocal melodies or the chords, which automatically disqualifies her from writing credits.

She did change a lyric, however, and she deserves a credit for that. Not the main writer one though, which is the one she was given for some weird reason.

So basically, saying she didn't contribute much writing-wise does not mean you're saying she didn't contribute to the song. Production is hugely important. All her main efforts are counted in her production credit. But at the end of the day, production is about decoration, and therefore awards don't acknowledge it.
