More Relevant: Avril Lavigne or Britney Spears

So I'll state some facts for both of them: (Do NOT be delusional because you hate/stan Britney or Avril)

1)Britney takes A LOT more attention by the social media and by the pop music fans.. But Avril is more popular in the general public (at least where I live)

2)Britney's last album sold around 600k and Avril's 900k

3)Britney had a vevo certified video with her last era (Work Bitch with 200m+).Avril had 3! vevo certified videos.(Let Me Go,Here's To Never Growing Up,Hello Kitty with all 100-150m views)

4)Britney's last album had 2 singles that peaked at (#12 and #76). Avril had 5 singles (4 of them charted. #20,#91,#78,#75)

5)Britney had way better first week sales in the US but Avril had way better first week sales worldwide.

6)Avril has 52,4m facebook likes,19,9m twitter followers and 5,8m youtube followers... Britney has 40m facebook likes,45,7m! twitter followers but 3,66m youtube followers

7)Avril took 65 and Britney 50 on metacritic (if it even matters) xD

I believe that Britney is a bit bigger as a celebrity but Avril is more popular in music. What do you think?

Britney Spears is more relevant both as a celebrity in music. She's a pop icon. I don't see how Avril can match up to her at all.

Brit for sure. Her name will always come up quickly in the mind of whoever you'd ask about pop culture. I feel like a very small group of people will think of Avril without her name being brought up I surely won't.

Now? Britney Spears of course. Avril Lavigne hasn't been heard for so long. Even GGD who supports the most minor female artists don't talk about her.

Britney in her lowest still way relevant than Avril in her highest.

How many times you heard news about Avril? How many websites cover her battle with lyme disease story? Exactly!

I think Avril Lavigne is that kind of artist that people feel nostalgic to, but Britney Spears has been working non-stop.

I brought up GGD to show her relevance, never said GGD was a representation of the GP.

Well I expected 100% to see that because Britney is relevant in the pop culture and the forums.I just don't know anyone else other than me irl that listens to her tbh

That's way too far  Avril used to sell 20m. Relevancy in music is different than relevancy in the social media

As for USA sales itself, Britney have sold 34.1 million albums, compare that to Avril US sales that only sold 12.4 million.

The problem is, Avril seems never challenge herself with her music, whereas Britney did, so it is just much funner to follow Britney and listen to her music. Nobody had exepected the girl who sings bubble gum pop as Sometimes is now a woman who sings various genres of music from hip hop to dance.
