Music 15,215
One of Trainor’s missions is to help girls love themselves. She understands the struggle for confidence because growing up, she was an “awkward” teen who never believed she could be a pop star. All About That Bass was actually a song about how “much I hated myself and wanted to love myself. I was insecure and in a dark place. It was, ‘I wish I was all about that bass’.” So it felt like a “stars-aligned” moment that L A Reid heard it and loved it: “That was destiny.” The success of the song gave her confidence, which she is thrilled has rubbed off on fans: “I’ve fans who say, ‘I love myself and can go to school now because of you — I used to stay home’.Mothers tell me: ‘You saved my daughter’s life’.” How do we give girls confidence? “Woman anthems! Nowadays, I think when I’m writing, ‘What do women need?’” She has never been asked by her label to slim down, and tucks into afternoon tea after our interview. “I’ve been the same weight since high school. A lot of people look me up and down when I first met them and say, ‘Woah! You’re much skinnier in person’. That’s not a compliment.” However, after All About That Bass came out, she was accused of criticising thin women. “I was hurt people took it the wrong way.” She faced criticism too when her Me Too video was Photoshopped to shrink her waist. “My team and I are still banging our heads against a wall about that.” http://www.standard.co.uk/showbiz/celebrity-news/meghan-trainor-women-tell-me-that-my-music-has-saved-their-daughters-lives-a3261211.html an interesting read. ItsTommyBitch 12,640
Yay for her I anticipated the tone of the article to be much more arrogant for some reason, so I'm pleasantly surprised She's very single minded in how she tries to empower women, not that my opinion matters, but if it works it works 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

It's so simple minded. Obviously the listener associates the lyrics with themselves and inherits the song's superiority theme. Just like with Beyonce's Flawless or Bow Down. You could also say the same about Obsessed by Mariah or Flawless by Beyoncé or Fancy by Iggy - but you don't. ⟡ ⋆ ˚。⋆🦢⋆ ˚。⋆⟡

littlepotter 72,903
I hate how the media can manipilate us into prejudice so easily. If I hadn't opened this thread, I'd have thought 'what an arrogant bitch, you have like one good song. Be humble' because of the title. Judging by many people here I wasn't the only one. chaeri pls

VOLANTIS 16,023
I won't lie I came to drag her because of that title. But it's not even about how perceived it. This is incredible since she's indeed making a positive change and I support her a lot for that. Good on you gal. I'll lift you 3 inches off the ground and drag you to a meter and a half
Andrew Warhola 12,992
I was expecting it to be one of those jokes, where people say Meghan Trainor saved their lives, because they were in a coma and the nurse turned the radio on and All About That Bass was playing, so they got up to turn it off. she's a party girl with a bad habit for drugs
