Really, with Poppilo I see them taking the Oshowott route, I feel he'll be a pure water starter till the end and in terms of how I think his middle stage evolution would look like, I assume he'll get a bigger head and a bigger body and by the final evolution I won't be surprised if he grows tusks or a horn with a much larger flubbery body. As for the fire starter, I am almost certain of a Fire/Dark typing, mark my words by the final evolution it'll have clear stripes and will be known as a tiger, in the middle stage you'll have this tiger/cat hybrid and then it full on becomes a tiger. The reason I say tiger is cause the fire starters follow the animals of the Chinese zodiac. As for the grass owl , I imagine the middle stage evolution to get larger in size, with a head distinct from the body, similar to how hoot-hoot turns into noctowl and then by the final evolution I see it turning into a Bengal eagle owl with clear leaf blades for every feather on the wings.

The Sun Legend looks like it's Fire/Psychic or Fire/Ground and The Moon Legend looks like it's Dark/Psychic or Dark/Flying

However, a new type might not be far from the question 

Cosmic type anyone ? Fire/Cosmic and Dark/Cosmic 

I hope it isn't Dark/Flying since Yveltal was a Dark/Flying type. Then again, I hope it isn't a Psychic/Flying either because we already have Lugia.

In each generation, we always have a trend for the starters' evolution line. Respectively we had period, classics, nature, legends, royalties, and for Gen 6 an rpg themed evolution line was quickly speculated right after Fennekin, Froakie, and Chespin were revealed, and it turned out to be true. This generation will most likely be circus themed judging from their appearance. It would be a waste of potential if what you said about Popplio's line being pure Water types (and getting the fat syndrome a la Pignite & Quilladin). Psychic and Fairy are the best types when associating with clowns like Mr. Mime. Litten is clearly going to be a tiger tho. Just look at it's forehead's markings, its the same as what tigers have which primarily is the reason why it'll grow in to one. The Chinese Zodiac thing carries a less weight and Fennekin is pretty much far from being a dog. And since Litten is going to be the circus tiger, maybe it will have flame hoops around its body as a strong reference. Fire/Dark will be a good typing. Rowlet looks like its wearing a tailcoat with its cute leaf bowtie and tail feathers. And what you said about the leaf blades happens, it would be a reference to knive-throwing, but then again, he's wearing a tailcoat which makes his role pretty unclear. He could be a stage magician, which his leaf blades are his "cards".

This doesnt have to mean they have one specific role tho. Popplio could be the circus sea lion in associate with clowns and jugglers. Litten references the tigers jumping through flaming hoop, fire breathers, and acrobats. Rowlet can be the ringmaster, magician, and knive thrower. I'm putting my money on this being legitimate. Also, "Entertainment" theme sounds more professional than just circus tbh.

Yes tbh, I was almost certain that we won't get anymore new types because the game is fairly balanced but after seeing the designs of the legendaries something about them seems too "new" and Cosmic was always in the back of my head.

This is my breakdown of what the types could be

For the Sun Legendary

Ugh this is even more annoying than having to guess the types of the legendaries of X&Y as Yveltal was an obvious Dark/Flying which made me assume that Xerneas was Psychic/Ground but then it was the new fairy type.

All in all, I just hope that if they do introduce a new type that it serves some sort of Balance, In my opinion, water is kind of overpowered and Ice is just too weak and useless but I fail to see how Cosmic can be super effective against water and super effected by Ice.

He's evidently a Fire type. The Moon legendary is like the Xerneas of this generation. We can hardly tell it's typing. Even tho I said a Cosmic type is a possibility, I dont think that concept would get separated from under Psychic's umbrella anytime soon. Psychic has always been associated with anything cosmic in the franchise like the Elgyem line and Olympia's gym. But I do want it to be a thing though, and I really want it be separated from Psychic.

Water can be weak against Cosmic since it turns to gas then desublimates (turns solid) in space due to the lack of pressure. Ice can be supereffective against Cosmic. Ice only grows when thrown in space. Comets are roughly the closer things to ice, and it populates space by travelling and collecting gas along the way. Ice can do the same.

Lol Foxy off from Team Rowlet so soon. Don't blame you though, Popplio is such a grower. 

I personally am gonna go with the one with the best typing as I am more of a competitive battler. 

which automatically means I'm not going for Rowlet even though I think it's the most innovative out of the three due to that 4 times weakness to ice and Grass generally being a poor competitive type with a few exceptions.

Litten is expected by more than half the fan base to grow into a Fire/Dark type which is pretty good since it has 4 weaknesses only and can get same type attack bonus on two types, Dark is only resisted by 3 types making it one of the better-attacking types. I know you mentioned that Popplio might become a Water/Fairy which is only weak to three types and resists more types than Fire/Dark plus the dragon immunity is so sweet. So if the cases of Water/Fairy and Fire/Dark are true, I guess it comes down to whether one wants an amazing defensive typing such as Water/Fairy or an amazing offensive typing with Fire/Dark. I assume Rowlet will grow into the fastest of the starters to make up for its fragile typing. Random but I strongly feel Pipplio's final evolution will have the Swift Swim ability.

So yea lol, I'm gonna go for the starter with the type that meets my needs but I know many people will go by design.

I was looking more closely to the Japanese trailer and... I found a new Pokemon!!! Unless it's a Pokemon from Gen 5, bc I didn't play that gen so I don't know the Pokemons there.  It's shown for like half a second or less, it's at the beginning  Looks like Eevee with red and yellow horns!
